A/N Just a little drabble about our favourite group of social revolutionaries!

Enjoy!

Safe Behind Bars

"Well, that went well." Enjolras settled back in his seat, crossing his arms across his chest. He was met with eleven blank stares of disbelief from Combeferre, Courfeyrac, Jehan, Joly, Bossuet, Bahorel, Feuilly, Marius, Cosette, Eponine, and Musichetta, causing him to let out a defensive, "What?"

"Enjolras." It was Eponine who spoke, enunciating her words as if talking to a small child. "We were arrested and now we are in jail."

"Yes, but the protest was a success! We got the media attention we wanted, as well as the attention of the public, all without becoming too violent."

"I don't think the police would agree with you," Musichetta drawled, briefly lifting her head from Joly's shoulder to give their leader a withering glare. "You really didn't have to rile everyone up that much."

"It was a means to an end." Enjolras jutted his chin out in defiance. "People shouldn't be able to abuse the benefits system and get away with it. Not when there are so many others who are in genuine need…"

"Yes, alright, Apollo, we were there," Grantaire moaned from his place on the floor. "Now, please put that silver tongue of yours to good use and sweet talk the guard into getting me an ibuprofen…I think my head is going to physically split down the middle."

"That will happen if you head butt a counter-protestor while coming off a hangover," Combeferre said from the corner, legs crossed and eyes closed.

Quarter of an hour, and a rant about the correct treatment of prisoners and the abuse of the justice system later, Grantaire had his painkillers.
