Kissing It Better

The kettle boiled and Tony yawned. He poured the boiling water over the tea bag. He scrunched up his nose at the smell of the tea. He made the tea for Ziva every morning while she ran. He made his coffee and noticed the time. Ziva was late. Ziva was seldom late. Her mornings ran like clockwork probably because of the military setting of much of her life.

There was fumbling at the door.

"You're late," Tony declared as he opened the door, "Did you add an extra mile?" Ziva stood before him with grazed knees and a bump on her head.

"What happened?" he asked as he took her hand and led her inside.

"A car ran the red light," Ziva paused as Tony pulled her into the bathroom, "and I fell trying to avoid it,"

They reached the bathroom. Ziva perched on the edge of the bath while he rifled through the medicine cabinet looking for Band-Aids and antiseptic cream to clean her wounds.

"What are you doing?" Ziva asked.

"Finding some stuff to fix you up," Tony replied.

"Tony, I am fine," Ziva uttered. "Believe me I have suffered worse,"

"I can't let you go to work like that," Tony found the plasters and cream. "Gibbs will think I hit you,"

"He will know you are not capable of that," Ziva reassured him. Ziva moved her leg so Tony could put the cream on it. A foreign swearword fell from her mouth.

"What was that?" Tony asked as he dabbed her grazed knee.

"That stung," Ziva replied. A smile crossed Tony's face. "What?"

"Little miss I have suffered worst can't handle the antiseptic cream," Tony taunted as he stuck a Band-Aid on her knee. Tony kissed her knee.

"What are you doing?" Ziva asked.

"Kissing it better,"
