A/N: This idea just popped into my head when I was fighting Mishaela a few nights ago. It's just a little fanfic about her relationship with Kane and how she feels when the Shining Force defeats him.
I remember the day clearly. The night before, Kane and I had spent the evening together, before he went to Rudo to fight those annoying kids who called themselves, 'The Shining Force'. He was a strong warrior and, thanks to Darksol's mask, was more evil even than I. Yet, despite all that, part of me screamed that if I let him go I would never see him again. As he kissed me goodnight, I clung to him, not wanting him to leave. When I told him my fears, he just gave an evil smile and shook his head. "Don't worry Mishaela" he said, obviously amused. "Those kids won't get passed me, I promise you. I'll see you soon and we'll have a nice celebration of our own"
"I love you Kane"
"I love you too" he pulled me to him for one last fierce kiss. "I'll see you later"
With that, he was gone.
For the next two days, I waited. The bad feeling settled in the pit of my stomach, but I pushed it away. 'Kane won't be beaten' I told myself. 'He can't be'. Yet I still couldn't believe it.
When Darksol walked through my door alone, I knew. I knew what had happened, even before Darksol told me how Kane had been beaten and had his mask destroyed. "He turned good again," he said mournfully. "He attacked me. I had to kill him. Mishaela, I'm sorry but I had no choice"
"I know that"
"He wasn't really one of us," Darksol continued. "I made him evil, but he wasn't evil really. But if you want revenge, the Shining Force are on their way here. You up to taking them down?"
"Yes" Slowly I got to my feet, wiping away my tears. "Yes, I'll take them down"
So now I'm sitting here in my castle. The Shining Force are right outside, I can sense them. As I slowly put the Sword of Light into a chest and lock it, I again have to wipe away a quick tear. Crying can wait until I take down the Shining Force. "Come on Max" I say quietly, as the first shadow enters the castle. "Come in and I will make you pay. I won't let you down Kane"
As they all crowd in and stand ready to fight, I send my monsters forward and begin the battle. And alone at the back of the hall, I allow myself to cry silently to myself…
