(A/N: So… I've decided to go back to fanfiction. Yay? Are you happy? Want to kill me for not writing for so long? Both? Okay, this is just so I can fall back into the beat of fanfiction.) (Please don't eat me)

The small woman lie in the bed, her red hair clashing almost violently with the sterile white room. Her face was blissful, like she knew that she had done a good job. The blonde man had wanted to take her to the Institute, but the matter could not wait. The deed had to be done at a Mundie hospital.

"Mr. Lightwood?" a tentative young nurse said, her tan face poking in through the door. "Would you like to see your son?"

Jace looked up at her and nodded. She smiled and beckoned with her hand for him to follow her. He followed with cat-like foot falls. It unnerved her a bit, both of them having odd tattoos all over them and to add to it, the man made no noise when he walked. But nonetheless, she couldn't just refuse to show him his newborn child just because he frightened her some.

The duo stopped in front of a large glass window which displayed dozens of just born babies. A nurse came up to the window to show him the child, wrapped in a white blanket. The boy had blonde hair, like Jace's, and eyes darker than his but more gold than Clary's. He shared his nose, and her eye shape, and definitely his mother's ears. It delighted Jace to be able to pick out his own features in a small life that he had partially helped create.

"He's adorable," the nurse said and Jace laughed softly. He spent a few more moments adoring his boy and then decided to go back to his wife. If she woke up all alone in a Mundie hospital, it might scare her.

When he reentered the hospital room, he saw that Clary wasn't alone, but that Isabelle, Alec, Magnus, Simon, Maia, and Jocelyn had came to visit. Jocelyn held her daughter's hand. Simon's hand was clasped firmly in Maia's, while Magnus had an arm wrapped around Alec. Isabelle leaned against the door frame and was the first to notice Jace's return.

"Congrats, Jace," she said. She gave him a bittersweet smile, and he felt bad for her because she had recently broken up with her boyfriend when he said he wanted kids. He didn't let Izzy's life bother him too much—not today.

"Jace!" Magnus burst. "What does the kid look like? Is it a girl?"

Jace grinned. "A boy. A blonde boy."

"Jace two point o'?" Maia asked. "This could be very bad."

Jace ignored her and instead continued to grin proudly.

"Well, are we going to the Institute?" Magnus asked. "Because, honestly, Mundies like to poke their heads into things that aren't their business."

"You're leaving?" Jace asked.

"No! I can't believe you'd accuse me of such a heartless deed, Shadowhunter," the brightly colored warlock exclaimed. He paused and cocked his head to the side, "I believe I'm going to have to swap your nickname of 'little shadowhunter' for your son. Anyways, back on track. If you'd like, I'll spin a spell for you that will transport you and your beloved home. And for no charge, to celebrate!"

Jace agreed, and Magnus splayed his fingers in the air and did his mojo. In only a few moments, the posse was back in the Institute. Jace had the child in his arms. He smiled down at the shining new life and wondered what he would grow up to be. A good man, certainly.

It was Jace's job to make sure he turned out to be kind and healthy, starting today.

(A/N I'm happy with it, even though it's short. I thought it was going to be a looooot worse. R&R pretty please with a rootbeer float on top?)
