Another Cure piece! Another Taito! And this is as close to fluff as I get, people. Sorry.

By the way, if anyone can draw and has some time, I'd like to work this thing out as a Doujinshi...I like doing that kind of stuff (I wanna write comics for a living). And I can't draw...

*****

please wake up
it's so dark and cold
please wake up
i feel so alone
and i feel so scared
that you're going away
and i feel so scared...

all i want is summer
stories from before
just like the day you tried to hide
behind the churchyard wall
and fell asleep before i came
i found you
in a chain of flowers
sleeping like a marble girl
sleeping in another world...

i'll never tell you
of all the different ways
you make me so afraid...
-The Cure, A Chain of Flowers

*****

"Tai?"

Tai slowly pulled himself out of sleep. Matt was lying under one of his arms, eyes half closed. "Tai, will you..."

"Sure." Tai stroked Matt's hair with one hand as he looked at the ceiling. "Remember that day...it was June, wasn't it? And it was warm and sunny. We went and got ice cream and went for a walk."

"It wasn't really a walk, Tai. We were just wandering."

"But it was something. And you found that old church and wanted to go look around it. It was falling apart, and flowers had started to grow all through the cracks in the walls. And..."

"And all the gravestones were falling apart. And there was that stone angel with only one wing..."

"You sat on the base of that statue and started picking flowers. It looked funny, you know?"

"And you sat down and showed me how to make chains out of them, like Kari had showed you. And you made one of them..."

"And put it on your head like a crown."

"You were kind of silly, Tai."

"And I'm not now? And..."

"You put your arm around me, and I fell asleep in the sun."

"You hadn't been sleeping much then, Matt. And I just sat there with you cuddled close to me in the sun, asleep. I shaded your face because I was afraid that the light would hurt your eyes...and...Matt?"

Matt had fallen asleep again. Tai brushed the hair out of his face. He looks so peaceful like this. Like he did then. If I look at him like this, I don't have to think about everything else. About all the drugs he was doing back then, about the time I found him passed out in the bathroom with the blood still oozing from his wrists. If I hadn't called the ambulance, he would have died then. I don't have to think about his nightmares, or his breakdown, or anything else. We can just lie here, and he can look like the angel he is. I don't have to worry about him.

Tai pulled Matt a bit closer to his chest and fell back asleep.
