Title: The Killer Bug
Rating: PG
Time Frame: Season 1
Author's Note: Going through some old files, I keep finding more and more short little humorous 'Drom things I wrote a long time ago. So I decided to upload all of them and hope that you find them amusing, even though the titles are stupid. I'm pretty sure this one was in response to one of those 5 minute fic challenges.
"Sinking...yeah, that's what it felt like. Sinking. Didn't really hurt." Harper started. "Is it ireally/i turning blue, Trance?"
As if to answer his question, he felt an explosion of pain at the sight of the injury. "Harper, you should be more careful."
"How was I supposed to know that thing on the ground was a killer bug and that it would jump up and bite my ass?!?" Harper defended himself, trying to turn around to look at her.
"There's still thorny things in it. I have to pull them out." She lifted a pair of large tweezers from the table.
"Can't you put me to sleep or something? That sounds like it'll really hurt. It's bad enough that you get a full view of the Harper's-"
"You should have listened to Dylan instead of following those women." She pulled out one of the thorns.
"YEEEEEOWWWWWWCH!" He jerked in pain. "You don't understand, Trance. Those weren't just women. Those were-" Another thorn pulled. "Stop that, Trance! I'm trying to talk here!"
There was a rustling outside of the small island hut. Trance stepped outside the door. Harper was relieved for a moment that the torture had stopped. Until he heard the giggling.
"Of course you can come see Harper," Trance said.
He heard several people enter the hut. "Trance, not while my-" It was too late. "Hi ladies, how's the view?" he asked sarcastically.
They responded by giggling. "Our medicine man has something for that."
"That damn bug made it shrink! I swear!" Harper said.
"No, the buari bite," one of the women said.
"Why did you step on it?" another asked.
"He was chasing after you," Trance informed the women.
They giggled more and whispered. "Come see us tomorrow when you're better!" They left the small hut.
"Hey, maybe this isn't so bad after all," Harper said with a grin.
"There are a bunch more." Trance pulled another thorn out.
He screamed and winced in pain. "Or not."
