She never thought that she could love anybody more than her, but she did. She always did, and she always will. That's what Jade told Cat just a few months after they started dating.
It was also a few months after they started dating that tragedy struck.
As the two were walking down the street, hand in hand at around eleven thirty at night, a drunk driver came barrelling from around the corner in a pick up truck, striking Cat's right side, and sending her spiraling to the ground in one quick motion.
It happened so fast, Jade couldn't even process what had happened. She stood there, just staring at Cat's almost lifeless body on the pavement, for a fair amount of time before reality set in, and with a scream that could wake the dead, Jade fell to her knees, and in a panic did her best to dial nine one one, and coherently tell the dispatcher what had happened.
Jade has had to relive that day over and over again, day after day.
Eventually she learned to push that memory to the back of her mind, and now the memory didn't seem to occur that often, but when it did, Jade would plunge into a deep dark isolated ball of sadness, and rage.
Now, Jade has moved on with her life, and living happily, for the most part. Today is an exception. For today is the four year anniversary of the death of one of the most important people in her life.
She sat in front of the gravestone. The fall wind giving the cemetery an eerie chill.
"I-I still can't believe you're gone." She said.
"Sometimes...I find myself walking over to your house, just to see how you are, and halfway there I al-always remember th-that..." She couldn't finish her sentence as a cascade of tears fell from her eye's.
She turned her head to her left and said "Baby, do you think she's still with me?"
"Of course she is, sweetie." Cat said holding Jade in her arms.
"Your grandma loved you very much. I know she's with you everyday." Cat said with a reassuring smile.
Jade could only smile back, but it was sad smile.
Jade looked at Cat.
"Do you want to go get waffles?"
"Ooh, Yay! I love waffles! Let's go!" Exclaimed Cat.
They both stood up.
"Goodbye, grandma. I'll visit again, as soon as I can." Jade said as she walked away.
Cat stayed behind holding her right hand up to her face to whisper to the grave...
"Goodbye, grandma. I love you too. I know you're with my Jadey all the time."
Just then she heard Jade shout from the Car...
"Hurry up, babe or no waffles!"
Cat gasped.
She ran towards the car shouting...
"No waffles?! That's no way to treat your wife, Jade!"
