Jenny Cranny was a young brown-haired girl. Instead of growing up in Gotham, she lived on a farm. It wasn't the most glamorous of places, but she accepted it. She lived with her parents. Jenny's mom used to be a city girl, but Jenny's dad was raised by a couple of farmers. Because of that, Jenny's parents raised her and had her live at a farm, which was forty-miles away from Gotham.

Although Jenny tolerated her life on the farm, she often became jealous of other kids. Her and her family often visited Gotham. Although Gotham had an infamous reputation, for being one of the most dangerous cities of all time, Jenny thought it seemed exciting. On the farm, there was very little to worry about, which made things plain. Everything was so predictable, familiar, with hardly any changes or surprises. In Gotham, things were changing, rising, and happening.

One day, when Jenny was twenty, she and her parents were going for a walk. Her parents were enjoying the sunshine and the rising wind, but Jenny seemed like she could care less. She had been on hundreds of these walks and it was rare for anything extraordinary to happen. She had a mopey look on her face. She wanted to be surprised, to experience something different, even if it was something scary.

Jenny should of been careful, for what she wished war, because a group of crows appeared. Jenny's parents were usually excited to see crows, but this time, they looked a bit scared. Jenny was surprised, so she asked, "What's going on?"

Jenny's dad, Dennis Cranny, said, "Those are the angriest crows, that I've ever seen."

Jenny's mom, Yvonne Cranny, said, "I agree and there's so many of them."

Jenny smirked and replied, "Come on, Mom and Dad. Are you actually scared of some crows? They're like birds. They're harmless creatures. If anything, they're kind of bland."

The crows started flying closer to Jenny and her parents. Jenny barely reacted, but her parents started walking faster. The crows started scratching Dennis' face. Jenny raised an eyebrow, while feeling surprised. The crows started coming after Yvonne.

Jenny put her hand on her chin and realized this was her chance, for excitement. She looked around and found a rake. She used it to hit the crows. The crows screeched, while Jenny said, "You probably don't like that, do you?" She smacked one of the crows around, while saying, "Listen, you flying pieces of scum, do you think I'm a defenseless country-girl? Let me show you what I really am: The master of fear." She laughed, while smacking the crows around.

One of the crows started biting Jenny, so she used a rake to hurt the crow. Several crows tried to fight Jenny, but she attacked all of them. Her parents tried to calm her down, but she wouldn't stop. She had been itching for excitement, to such an extreme degree, that she took things too far.

Several minutes later, there were a few dozen crows, who were passed-out. Jenny had a proud look on her face, while saying, "I stopped those stupid crows."

Both of Jenny's parents had concerned looks on their faces. Dennis nervously said, "Jenny, that was a little much."

Jenny replied, "The crows were to attacking us. It was self-defense."

Yvonne responded, "If you say so."

Suddenly, a couple of giant crows flew down. They were the biggest crows, that Jenny and her parents had ever seen. They were four times taller, than regular crows. They screeched, while flying closer to Jenny and her parents.

Jenny took a closer look at the giant crows and noticed, that they were approaching her. Most people would be scared by such a thing, but Jenny had an intrigued look on her face. She grabbed a few rakes and was prepared to fight the crows. Although she managed to get a few hits in, one of the crows knocked her to the ground.

Dennis nervously ran up to Jenny and said, "We need to get going."

Jenny replied, "These crows aren't as tough, as they like to claim they are. I'm going to show them who's boss." She tried to keep fighting the crows, but they started scratching her face. Jenny's parents grabbed their daughter and ran away. The crows flew away.

Jenny was quickly taken back to her house. Her parents put a bunch of band-aids, on her scratched up face. Yvonne said, "Band-aids aren't going to be enough. We should take her to a doctor."

Jenny casually replied, "Come on, you two. You're making a far bigger out of this, than you should be."

Dennis turned around and said, "Jenny, no offense, but what were you thinking? You charged after those crows, like you were some kind of warrior. After that, you tried to challenge those overly-big crows."

Jenny asked, "Can you blame me?"

Dennis answered, "Yes I can."

Yvonne said, "Jenny, you shouldn't do such dangerous things."

Jenny replied, "Give me a break. This farm is fine and all, but it hardly counts as exciting. It follows the same routine, the same boring-rules, and the same dull-lifestyle."

Suddenly, there was a knock on the door. Jenny's parents and opened it. One of their neighbors, Farmer Brown, was the one at the door. Farmer Brown took off his hat and said, "Greetings, you good folks. I heard you had a little encounter, with those crows of mine."

Jenny raised an eyebrow and asked, "Those crows were yours?"

Farmer Brown proudly said, "They sure are. Those smaller crows were ones I've had for months. The bigger ones are brand-new."

Dennis replied, "Farmer Brown, those crows were insanely big. Nobody's ever seen such big crows."

Farmer Brown responded, "Believe me, I know and I couldn't be prouder of my myself."

Yvonne sounded annoyed, while asking, "Proud? Your freakish crows attacked our daughter. She could of suffered immense pain. Why would you be proud of that?"

Farmer Brown had a guilty look on his face, while saying, "I'm truly sorry about that. I wasn't trying to hurt anybody, especially someone so young. My intention was to be the best farmer, as humanly possible."

Dennis folded his arms and said, "Instead of accomplishing that, you've been the scariest farmer, as humanly possible."

Farmer Brown replied, "I'm aware of that and I couldn't be more ashamed of myself. I didn't come, to cause any further trouble. In fact, I came to make things right." He looked at Jenny and said, "I hired my daughter to send some animals, that I don't need, to Gotham's zoo. However, there turned out to be a lot more animals, than she can handle. If you can give her a hand, I'll give you five-thousand-smackeroos."

Jenny had a surprised look on her face, while asking, "Really?"

Farmer Brown nodded. He faced his parents, while saying, "This time, you don't need to worry. I'm not going to have Jenny fight some monster crows or anything like that. These animals couldn't be more wholesome and pure." Jenny's parents were reluctant to let their daughter do it, but Jenny was an adult and insisted on giving it a try.

A few minutes later, Jenny and Farmer Brown arrived at Brown's farm. Farmer Brown walked up to his daughter, Emmylou, and said, "Emmylou, the Cranny couple's daughter has agreed to give her a hand. The plan's working just as well, as I hoped it would."

Emmylou grinned and replied, "That's great to hear." She looked at Jenny and stuck her hand out. She was offering a handshake, even though her hand was covered in mud. Jenny sighed and shook her hand. Emmylou said, "It's going to be great, to get some help."

Jenny said, "So, there are a lot of animals?"

Emmylou answered, "You have no idea, Jenny. There's hundreds of them."

Jenny said, "So, we're going to have to move them all into cages and ship them to Gotham?"

Emmylou answered, "You could say that, but you're part in this isn't what you think it is."

Jenny had a confused look on her face, while asking, "What do you mean?" Emmylou pushed Jenny into a puddle of mud. Jenny sarcastically said, "How charming." She looked around and saw the two giant crows, that attacked her earlier. As much as she usually liked scary things, she was starting to get uncomfortable. She asked, "What's going on?"

Farmer Brown walked by and said, "I'm getting my revenge."

Jenny asked, "What are you talking about?"

Farmer Brown said, "You see, a short while ago, a bunch of my finest crows started flying away from the farm. Before my daughter and I could get them back, you hurt those poor creatures. There were about twenty-five of them and you damaged every single one. I didn't bring you here, to apologize. Instead, I'm getting payback on you, for wasting so many valuable crows."

Jenny asked, "Where did your giant-sized crows come from?"

Farmer Brown proudly said, "They're my creation. I turned some regular crows, into those big things, thanks to some experimentations. I could of had twenty more of these things, if you hadn't damaged my other crows. Well, that's enough of the jabbering. It's time for the crows, to dispose of ya. So long, millennial." Farmer Brown and his daughter walked away, while heading back into their house.

Jenny looked around and saw that the giant-sized crows were getting ready to attack her. Jenny was scared about the situation, despite getting some thrills from the situation. She was hoping she could outrun the crows. Most people would think it's a hopeless effort, but Jenny believed in herself and felt more than ready, when it came to taking risks. She jumped out of the mud and started running away.

The crows started flying after Jenny. Jenny saw that Farmer Brown's garage door was partially open. The door was open enough for Jenny to get inside, but not the crows. Jenny went into the garage. The crows tried to get in, but they were too big, to get inside.

Jenny started looking around the garage. The garage was used by Farmer Brown, for his experiments. She looked around and saw the experiments, that Farmer Brown had been working on. She grabbed one of the experiment bottles, which was labeled "Fear Toxin." Jenny had often had an interest in scary stuff, so the bottle intrigued her. Farmer Brown had created the fear toxin, so he could intimidate his bigger animals, into obeying his commands. Jenny grabbed the bottle and left the garage.

After stepping outside, the giant crows flew back to Jenny. However, this time, Jenny was prepared for them. She opened the bottle and sprayed the fear toxin, at the crows. She had a sneaky smile on her face, while the crows got scared and flew away. She laughed, while saying, "I think I've found my purpose in my life. I wasn't meant to follow the routine life of a farmer or be an easily-scared pushover. I'm going to spread fear, onto those who deserve it." She put her hand on her chin, while saying, "Farmer Brown owes me five-thousand-dollars, not mention how much peril he put me through. He's going to get the ultimate fear." She did a menacing laugh.

A few weeks later, Jenny packed up her stuff and was planning on moving out of her parent's house. She was planning on moving to Gotham. She wanted to live in a more exciting city, but in addition to that, she heard Farmer Brown was going to show-off his latest experiments, at one of Bruce Wayne's parties.

Since the party was going to be such a well-populated event, Jenny figured she should get a secret identity and wear a special type of costume. Jenny didn't have that much money, so she didn't have a lot of options. She dug around her bag of clothes and found an old scarecrow costume. Since Jenny wanted to scare people, she thought the scarecrow costume would be perfect.

A month later, Bruce Wayne was having a charity party, at his mansion. The party was to raise money, for Farmer Brown's experiments. Alfred Pennyworth walked to Bruce. Bruce waved to him and said, "Greetings, Alfred. What's going on?"

Alfred replied, "Farmer Brown and his daughter have arrived."

Bruce responded, "That's good news. I think this is going to be a great party."

Alfred replied, "Frankly, I have my doubts."

Bruce had a confused look on his face, while asking, "Why? This party is for raising money, for a very good cause."

Alfred replied, "You know I support raising money for others, but I'm not sure how good Farmer Brown's cause is."

Bruce responded, "His intentions seem very noble. He wants to improve the lives and safety of animals, with some groundbreaking experiments. If anything, he's a visionary."

Farmer Brown overheard Bruce and said, "I couldn't be more flattered, Mr. Wayne."

Bruce shook hands with him, while saying, "It's an honor to meet you. I think you're going to raise a lot of money, for your worthy cause."

Farmer Brown replied, "I better. These experiments of mine are essential, for my career. If this fails, my farm might kick the bucket."

Bruce put his hand on Brown's shoulder and responded, "That's not going to happen. Everything's going to be fine."

Emmylou shook Bruce's hand, while saying, "Mr. Wayne, I've heard a lot of things about ya."

Bruce smiled and replied, "I hope you've heard the better things."

Emmylou responded, "Well, my pop used to call you a stuck-up, spoiled, immature prick, but after you agreed to host this charity party, he's been giving you semi-genuine compliments."

Farmer Brown nervously chuckled, while looking back at Bruce, and saying, "Excuse my daughter's lack of courtesy."

A stage was setup, for the event. Bruce got onstage and faced his hundreds of guests. He said, "It's great to have you all are. Our special guests are Farmer Brown and his daughter, Emmylou. Farmer Brown has a very worthy cause, that I hope you all support."

Farmer Brown walked onstage and said, "Mr. Wayne couldn't be more right, about how important my cause is. You see, we've had a lot of great animals, but due to their lack of height, they aren't living up to their full potential. I quickly took notice of that and decided to change things up. I took some of my smaller animals and used one of my experiments, to make them grow." Emmylou undid a curtain, to present the two giant-sized crows, as well as some huge mice and rabbits.

Farmer Brown had a proud look on his face, while the guests looked horrified. The overly-big size was bad enough, but all of the animals had angry, intense looks on their faces, due to Brown being a bad influence on them. Farmer Brown said, "So, how much are you city slickers going to donate, to this wonderful cause of mine?"

One of the guests said, "Not a single cent."

A different guest said, "This freaky farmer and his scary animals should get out of here."

Bruce Wayne was starting to regret inviting Farmer Brown, to his mansion. He wished he had taken Alfred's advice. He could tell things were going to get intense, so he snuck into the Bat-Cave and got his Batman costume on.

Farmer Brown had an annoyed look on his face, while turning to Emmylou, and saying, "These darn city-folks don't understand the importance of our cause. Because of that, they aren't forking over their cash."

Emmylou asked, "What are we going to do?"

Farmer Brown started opening the cages, while saying, "I'll have my animals scare these folks so hard, that they'll give me their precious dough."

Jenny burst in, wearing the scarecrow costume. She jumped to the stage and said, "Your evil antics and reign of fear are over, Farmer Brown. I'm the master of fear. I'm the Scarecrow."

Emmylou had a confused look on her face, while asking, "Is that a live scarecrow?"

Farmer Brown answered, "Either way, it's something that needs to be stopped." He pushed Scarecrow off of the stage and said, "The animals will get rid of that dang scarecrow." He did an evil laugh.

The Scarecrow looked around and saw the crows, mice, and rabbits. Some of them were scaring the guests, while the others started charging to her. The Scarecrow had a smug smile on her face, while saying, "I'm going to show them who's boss, thanks to the power of fear." She used her fear toxin, on each of the animals.

The animals had freaked-out looks on their faces, while the Scarecrow said, "This is excellent. Animals, you are terrified of me and because of that, you're going to be doing what I want. I suggest following me, if you don't want to suffer more of the fear toxin." The Scarecrow returned to the stage. She pointed to Farmer Brown and Emmylou, so the animals would start attacking them.

Farmer Brown looked confused, while asking, "What's going on? Why are the animals coming after me?"

The Scarecrow smugly said, "I stole your fear toxin and I'm using it, for your downfall." Farmer Brown shook his fist, before the animals started attacking him.

A few minutes later, Batman arrived. He looked around and was surprised that the animals weren't harming the party guests. He went to the stage and saw what was happening. He walked up to the Scarecrow and said, "I don't know who you are, but you did save the guests' lives. It's good you stopped Farmer Brown, but you need to make the animals stop. If those giant-sized things keep attacking him, he and his daughter will get destroyed."

The Scarecrow replied, "They had it coming, wouldn't you say?"

Batman sternly responded, "Taking away peoples' lives isn't something I accept and support." He used his grappling hook, to grab hold of Farmer Brown and Emmylou and get them away from the animals.

The Scarecrow faced Batman and said, "Your heroic act is pointless. I'll control my animals, into taking Farmer Brown back and getting rid of him."

Batman could tell Scarecrow was a flawed soul of a person, who needed help. He had a caring look on his face, while saying, "Please don't do this. Don't follow the path of evil. You saved those guests, from the animals' wrath, so you clearly have potential. Please use that potential, for a worthy cause. Nothing will be gained, from destroying Farmer Brown."

The Scarecrow put the fear toxin on the ground and sat on a chair. She said, "I give up. I'm a hopeless case, aren't I?"

Batman shook his head and replied, "No, I see potential in you." He stuck his hand out and said, "Come with me. I'm going to take you to a place, where you'll get help." The Scarecrow lightly smiled and accepted Batman's offer. The Scarecrow was taken to one of Gotham's mental faculties. The Scarecrow was a little scared of her new home, but Batman seeing potential in her inspired her, to not give up. She realized that making people smile, rather than scaring them, might be better, after all.
