A Good Night's Sleep

Anakin groaned. He knew it would be hard to get some decent sleep during this war, but he didn't realize it would be this hard. All around him were the sounds of clones in peaceful slumber. A snore here, a mumble there.

Oh how easy it is for them to get some shut eye.

Peace and calm swirled through the Force around Anakin. He snorted in annoyance, not bothering to keep quiet.

So what if they wake up? At least I'll have some company.

He shut his eyes, wishing he was on Coruscant with Padme. It was always easy to sleep when she was around. Her presence and soft weight near him was comforting. Thinking about her didn't help at the moment though. It only made Anakin more frustrated, thinking about the sleep he could be getting.

He slouched in disappointment. His padawan and former master only snuggled up to him more at that movement. Their weight together was not welcome to his body. When he tried to pull away from one, the other only added more of their weight to the other side, snuggling up to him like a kitten.

This is getting disturbing.

Anakin shut his eyes once more in another attempt to sleep when the unthinkable happened. Ahsoka started snoring. It was terribly loud. Some of the clones stirred from their sleep, but didn't wake up. Anakin groaned again. There was no chance at sleep now.

Ahsoka and Obi-Wan held back grins at his groans. The snoring was hurting Ahsoka's throat and the snuggling was awkward, but the more it annoyed Anakin, the better. He had kept the entire ship awake with his foghorn of a snore. Even though revenge is not the Jedi way, they had decided they'd rather not have clones falling asleep in the midst of battle. Obi-Wan was just as uncomfortable snuggling up to Anakin as Ahsoka was, but it would all be worth it.

Anakin huffed in annoyance yet again at all the slumber surrounding him. This time they did smile. They knew they would hear his complaining the next morning, but at least the troopers were getting the good night's rest they all deserved. They would get it even if it meant being around a sleepy general and commander the next morning.

Or an unhappy Anakin.
