Disclaimer: Even though there are no direct references to Star Wars here I'm just going to say anyway that George Lucas owns everything and I own nothing but several copies of the original trilogy. And the prequels of course. :)
Her head rests against the window
as she gazes out at her garden.
She smiles warmly at the blossoms
that have already burst forth from the ground.
She longs to see the seeds deep beneath the
earth rise up and bloom.
The sun shines down from high above,
casting its warm light onto her garden.
And she is so grateful for the warmth
of that sun that it almost brings her to tears
for she knows that none of her flowers could
ever really grow without it.
But the wind changes,
bringing with it the promise of a storm
and she worries what will happen
to her garden.
She rushes out and kneels before
the earth but she can't stop it.
Gloomy clouds streaked with shades
of gray filled the sky and turned
the peaceful heavens to black.
The clouds were so thick that
they easily overwhelmed the sun
and swallowed it whole.
She thrust her arms out as if
she could somehow stop the storm
and protect her garden.
Her eyes were locked on the sky
and she could just make out the grim
outline of the sun trapped
beneath the clouds and for a moment
she thought she saw a single
ray of its light.
She prayed for that one
beam to overcome the ominous
sky but it wasn't strong enough.
The damage was done and she
turned back to her garden.
The flowers had become twisted
and bent, their petals had wilted
and fallen off.
They were gone but she could
still remember the way the looked,
the way they smelled.
The seeds beneath the earth had
shriveled up and died, for the soil
around them had once been so
strong but now could not support them.
And she fell apart, crumbling into
the earth bit by bit until there
was nothing left.
She rests there forever,
fading beneath the flowers
of her garden.
