AN: I'm not actually the biggest fan of Kizaru, but a friend asked me for this.
Pairing: OC/Kizaru.
Warnings: Rated M for a reason.
Eva knew that coming to the bar had been a bad idea. She was very, very inebriated. In the back of her mind, she knew that she desperately needed to go home and sleep the alcohol off, but she had no desire to leave. The world tilted dangerously on its axis whenever she moved and she was starting to have trouble making out her friends seated around her. It was rare these days when her group could get together anymore. Sure, she ran into them individually, but never all at once. Life, too often, got in the way. She missed the feeling of comradery that they all held together. Her coworkers just weren't the same.
She had met Luffy, Usopp, Nami, and all the others while she had still been living on the streets of the big city. They had banded together, them against the world, and clawed their way out of their sad situation. They had helped each other achieve most of their dreams, no matter how hard it had been back then. And the dreams that weren't achieved? Well, they were still helping each other along. Finding the money had not been easy back then, but she always did have nimble fingers and a charismatic smile. She had learnt from one of the best, Nami, after all. Despite a few marks against her record for theft, she had managed to get them all where they needed to be. Eva and Nami had gotten the money back then and, of course, Luffy had done most of the winning over people side of things. However, he was no good with the money and planning side. To be honest, Eva was not very good with planning either, she and Luffy had always left that to the others. Luffy was almost never to be trusted to come up with a smart plan. He was more of a 'go do and then think afterwards' type of person.
Hell, he had even eaten one of the rare Devil Fruits that the government tried to hide from the general populous, without knowing, or caring, what he had eaten. Sanji and her had tried to stop him at the time, but, with Luffy, his stomach often ruled over him. On the subject of Devil Fruits, Luffy and Chopper were the only ones with Devil Fruit powers that she knew of who were not a marine or some other government official. It still weirded her out to see Luffy stretch his body in abnormal ways. Currently, Luffy was stretching out his arms in order to snatch Franky's drink from him. Franky, not appreciating this, was trying to keep his mug out of Luffy's sticky fingers to no avail. Sadly, this was not an unusual predicament for anyone at the table. One's drink and supper were never safe from the Rubber Man. Luffy would eat your house right out from under you, if given half a chance.
Laughter was abundant at their table. Drinks were spilt, nostalgic and funny stories were told, and general chaos reigned despite the presence of some nearby marines also trying to enjoy the busy bar. With the number of them in here, some sort of military event had to have taken place today. What that was, Eva did not know or particularly care to find out. The less they noticed her, the better. Some of them still remembered her running away with their wallets.
She was just starting to zone out, staring sleepily at her rum and coke, when Usopp slammed his hand down on the table, exclaiming, "I got it! Let's play a game!"
She looked up to see him grinning proudly as Luffy excitedly asked him what game. Everyone leaned in as best they could, trying to hear the response, as Usopp shouted, "Truth or Dare!"
The table stayed quiet for a moment, considering the proposition. While most would consider 'Truth or Dare' a childish game, the group was well past too drunk to care. Chopper excitedly placed a mostly empty bottle onto the center of the abused looking wooden table. Luffy, deciding that he would go spin it first, reached out for the bottle. As he reached over, Eva absently wondered how long it would take the bar staff to kick them out. She was honestly surprised that they hadn't yet with how boisterous they were.
She took a long sip of her drink, trying to focus on the bottle spinning before her. Slowly, it came to a stop, thankfully not on her just yet. Instead, it pointed at the dark haired beauty to her right. Robin merely inclined her head and asked for a dare, which surprised Eva. In response, Luffy grinned and snatched a large empty mug. Suddenly, Eva found her own glass missing from her hand without so much as a by your leave. Everyone else's drinks were eventually taken away from their respective owners and added to the horrible concoction in the middle. Luffy held the foul looking drink before Robin, saying, "Drink up!"
Robin took it without hesitation and drank it while everyone cheered on.
"Robin! Robin! Robin!"
When finished, Robin placed the mug in front of her, looking none the worse for wear. Eva grimaced, imagining the taste. Unfazed, Robin said,
"Well, that was certainly interesting."
Laughter erupted once again as Usopp reached over to spin the bottle, only to almost fall over in his seat. Another round of drinks was ordered from a harassed looking bartender. Feeling the sudden desire to pee, Eva excused herself to head to the washroom, ignoring the sad cries of, "Aww, Eva! The bottle could land on you!" from the others. She laughed and made her way unsteadily to the lavatory. It was a lot harder than it should have been. The floor was pretty damned determined to trip her up. Along the way, she had to steady herself a few times with the back of other peoples' chairs, steadfastly ignoring the disgruntled looks shot her way. It wasn't like they hadn't seen a drunk girl before! Bloody marines.
With exaggerated carefulness, she opened the door to the washroom, did her business, and tried to head out again. Only, almost as soon as she left, a large hand unexpectedly touched her arm briefly, startling her into almost falling over. A man's voice drifted over her shoulder, sounding a little drunk himself.
"Aaah, sorry for startling you, but I couldn't help, but notice that you might want some help getting back to your table."
He was a bit hard to hear over the blaring music, but he seemed awfully cheerful behind her. Carefully, she turned around and tried not to squint up at him. He seemed vaguely familiar to her drunk mind, but she could not place the tall man. He was quite obviously a marine, a high ranking officer at that, judging by the coat pinned to his shoulders. He was dressed quite nicely in a grey suit and, oddly enough, he wore a pair of sunglasses in the already pretty dim bar. Something told her that she should have been wary around the smiling man, however, she was too far gone to really register the feeling, having put it aside as a general unease around marines in general. Having been caught stealing in her youth by more than one or two marines had created a general wariness towards all of them.
He was still grinning down at her as she sluggishly tried to decide on accepting his unasked question of aid. He was older than her and not entirely bad looking, she supposed. Though, she couldn't be sure if that was just her beer goggles talking. As she tried to focus on him, she could not decide if he was just being unusually nice or if he was just creeping on her. Eventually, she acquiesced,
"Alright. Thanks."
To her surprise, he did not try to guide her by putting a hand around her waist. Instead, he placed one hand respectively near the top of her back and used the other to gently grasp her elbow. He leaned forward to ask where her table was exactly. A little disconcerted by the proximity of his face and the smell of beer coming off him, she replied,
"At the other end, by the entrance. I'm with the rowdy group."
Indeed, she could hear Zoro unintelligibly belting out some song along with Brook. The singing was probably because of their game. However, she could not tell who actually had been dared between the two singers and who was just drunkenly joining in. The stranger started to move them towards her friends and she grudgingly had to admit that it was easier to get back with him gently guiding her around tables and other drunks. Unexpectedly, he stopped just before reaching their destination, releasing her from his grip as he did so. He stepped back.
"Have a good night….?"
Deciding that he was proving to be less creepy than she had originally thought, she answered,
"Eva. My name is Eva."
Before she could ask his name in return, he nodded and turned around to head back to his table with a wave. Shrugging, she turned back to her lot and made her way over. They had not noticed her short conversation with the marine and she was kind of glad. It most likely would have resulted in awkward questions. Her love of the marines was not a secret in the group.
"Ah! Eva-swaaaan! You're back! Truth or Dare?"
Pulling her chair out and sitting down, she blinked, confused, before noticing the bottle pointing innocently at her. She took a quick glance at who asked her the question despite knowing who it was from the sound of his voice alone. Sanji. Well, she was probably fucked no matter which answer that she chose. Sanji always did have a perverted mind. Luffy and the others were looking expectantly at her. Undoubtedly, they were looking forward to seeing what would happen next. It was no well-hidden secret that Sanji wanted to sleep with her and the other girls in their group. Perhaps, he felt genuine feelings for one of them. Eve suspected it was Nami. In regards to the game, she had a feeling about what the question would be if she responded 'truth' and, deciding that she did not want to hurt his feelings with her honesty, she slowly and mistrustfully said,
"Dare."
Sanji looked briefly put out before hearts flashed in his eyes. Eva really hated that expression of his. He looked victorious as he declared,
"I dare you to kiss someone in this bar!"
Honestly, she was surprised that he did not dare her to kiss him. Still, she was left with a dilemma. Even in her current state of drunkenness, she could make out the brief flashes of discomfort that passed over her friends faces. They thought of each other too much as family to want to cross that line. She did not want to cross that line either.
Well fuck.
She could always back out on this one. She knew that. But did she want the endless teasing that would result from that? It would probably go on for weeks, possibly months, with Luffy and Franky around. Eva was a grown woman in her early thirties, and she most definitely did not need them bothering her with their teasing in public. She turned around in her chair and cast her gaze about as best she could. In the immediate vicinity, she spied a few civilians like herself, but they seemed to all have partners with them. Last thing she needed was someone starting a fight because she accidently kissed someone's boyfriend or husband. That left the marines. Most of whom she had annoyed in her drunken stumbling to the bathroom. Briefly, she thought of the tall marine from earlier, but held off from searching for him. Was there someone else she could find beforehand?
She turned back to Sanji, who was looking too damn excited. She really did not think that she could kiss him and not regret it in the end. Not with that face and not with the repercussions that would follow. Robin shot her a sympathetic glance behind her drink. Heck, even Zoro seemed aware of how awkward this situation was as he watched her.
Impatient, Luffy started to drunkenly chant, "Kiss! Kiss! Kiss!"
Usopp and Franky, wanting a part of the excitement, joined in with the chanting moments later. Deciding that she really did not want to go to anyone else, she stood up, intent on finding the friendly marine. At least he did not seem to be irritated with her nor did he appear to have a significant other. So, hopefully, she could get out of this situation with as little reputation damage as possible. She was not a vain person. She just did not want to be labelled a slut in her favourite bar. Sanji cast her a disheartened look as she tried to march off in a straight line, not caring if the others followed her to observe if she upheld the dare or to see if she had just skulked off.
Amongst the general chaos of a bar in the later hours, he was harder to locate than she had initially expected. Everyone looked alike in their white uniforms. Faces blurred when she tried to focus on them, but, in the end she spotted him seated with two other marines. At least, she hoped it was him. His back was towards her, but there weren't too many people in the bar who were as tall as him. In fact, she suspected that only his two friends at the table with him were as tall. Still, you could never be too sure.
She wobbled over to him, drawing the attention of his two companions. He was still oblivious to her approach, talking rather languidly to the other marines. She chose to ignore the harsh stare of the grumpy looking center companion and, instead, placed a hand on her target's shoulder, causing him to falter and turn to look at her in surprise. Acting before she could back out, she exclaimed, "Sorry about this!" and reached forward, planting a kiss on his mouth. It was surprisingly warm to the touch. He made a noise of a surprise against her lips as his, still grumpy, companion shouted at her about what the hell she was doing. The touch of a hand ghosted on her hip and she froze for a moment before pulling back and apologizing. Turning away, she fled as rapidly as possible, leaving several bewildered marines behind.
The bar was a lot quieter on that side of the room as many pairs of eyes watched her speed walk, with a surprising amount of agility, back to her group. Embarrassment and a brief sudden clarity of mind flooded Eva as she realised that maybe kissing an officer had been a bad idea after all. She found her friends in no time, most of whom were still oblivious to the exchange on the other side of the room. They had put away the spinning bottle, she noted, and, instead, were nursing several cups of beer. Probably last call for them before they went their separate ways for who knew how long. That or the bartenders had finally lost their patience. Unbidden, her mind went back to the kiss and she found that, to her shock, she had actually enjoyed it. Absently, she brought a hand up to her mouth, drawing the questioning gaze of Robin. The others still had not noticed her return. After a moment, Robin asked,
"What happened over there? I heard someone shout out. Who did you kiss?"
Her gaggle of friends quieted down, suddenly interested in the events that had transpired without them noticing. Luffy gave a confused pout,
"What shout?"
She could feel her face heating up at the memory. Vehemently, she tried to deny that anything serious had happened at all. That the man had just been surprised by her kissing him. However, there was no fooling Robin or Nami. They knew her too well. Now, normally, Nami and Robin would have waited until they were separated from the boys to interrogate her in private, but the alcohol in Nami's system had other ideas.
"It went awfully quiet over there after someone started shouting at you."
Eva squirmed, tugging at the end of her dark shirt, which, for once, was much more formal than her usual attire. In fact, she had come here right after work and had not had a chance to change beforehand. She had been late enough already. Quietly, she mumbled,
"I may have kissed an officer in the marines. His companion didn't appreciate it."
"The marines…?" Luffy trailed off.
Usopp picked up on Luffy's unfinished train of thought and leaned back in his chair, confused,
"I thought you didn't like the marines? Why kiss one of them?"
Eva scowled, indignant. She folded her arms beneath her chest and loudly stated, "It's not like I had much of a choice. It was a marine or one of you! If you haven't noticed there aren't many single civilians in the bar tonight!"
Some of them actually looked around at the bar, realizing that she was indeed right. Sanji shot her a hurt expression, which she ignored. It was his damn fault anyways for asking such a dare of her. The others nodded in acceptance as Franky slid an untouched beer towards her, almost as a kind of awkward apology. Grateful, she took it, savouring the taste of it. This certainly had turned into one hell of a night. Hopefully, she thought, the rest of it would be fairly mundane.
Conversation idled and, due to the late hour, her friends slowly filtered out of the bar aside from her and Robin. They sat together, enjoying each other's calming presence and allowing the alcohol's effects to wear down a little. Eva was gradually reaching the end of her drink so she swirled the last little bit of beer around in her mug, concluding that she was lucky that she did not have to work tomorrow. She was sure that she would have one hell of a hangover in the morning. Finishing her drink, she made to get up and head home herself when Robin turned her attention behind her. Quietly, her friend asked,
"Earlier, you said that you kissed an officer, right?"
She glanced up, meeting Robin's gaze. "Yeah, why?"
Her friend glanced behind her again. This time, she started to look concerned. "Well, if that's him, he's coming over to have a word with you, I think."
If Eva had turned around in her chair any faster, she would have given herself whiplash. The world did not sway as much as earlier, to her surprise. It must have been due to the adrenaline in her system. Sure enough, she spotted the tall marine picking his way over to her with a lazy saunter. The marines who were sober enough to realise who he was, moved out of his way without any protest. A horrifying realization dawned on her moments before Robin could voice it out loud. Now that she could function slightly better, she recognised that suit and glasses, despite the fact that they weren't his usual colour scheme. Even in her drunken stupor, she should have known better. How stupid could she be?
"You are aware, Eva, that you just kissed Admiral Kizaru in front of half the marines stationed in this city port?"
In response, Eva could barely manage to get out a small noise of horror. His eyes met hers behind his sunglasses. He still had a stupid smile on, but it was not as friendly as the one from before. Eva glanced towards Robin, pleading with her eyes for Robin to help her out. Robin smiled weakly at her in return,
"I'm sorry, but I don't think I can help you here."
Unfortunately, Eva had to agree that there was little her raven haired friend could do to aid her. This was entirely her own damned fault anyways. In what seemed like forever, Kizaru finally came to a halt before them with his hands stuffed into his pants pockets. Even slouching, his height made for an intimidating picture. He glanced towards Robin, which Robin took as a hint to be gone. Before she left, she told Eva to text her when she got home, in order to let her know that she was safe.
And, suddenly, she was very much alone with the Admiral. His friends were probably lurking about, keeping an eye on the two of them, and that thought frightened her almost as much as this imminent conversation. He appeared more inebriated than before, but probably not as badly as she had been tonight. She knew her clarity of mind was only temporary. Her fear was staving off the worst of the alcohol's effects. Kizaru pulled out the chair Robin had just vacated, and slowly eased himself onto it as if he had no other care in the world. He crossed one foot on top of his other leg, put an elbow on the table in order to use his hand as a chin rest, and turned to look at her. As he did this, she reflected upon all of the reasons why she did not often drink. She was all too willing to do stupid shit when drunk. Stupid things that ended in shitty situations like this one.
Eva was almost paralysed with fear. Becoming the sole object of attention to any one of the three Admirals was not something most people wanted, even in today's society. They couldn't murder her in the middle of the streets anymore, like they could've back during the time of the pirates. Back then, they could've killed her if they had even so much as suspected her of criminal activity. However, in today's age, they could still bring a hell of a lot of misery down upon her regardless, especially since she had an existing criminal record. It did not matter that the record was old and very minor in the grand scheme of things. Though, she had to admit, the chances of an Admiral going after her or anyone else with such a minor record was next to nil. They went after the big fish. She doubted people such as her even registered on their minds at all, seeing as admirals were so high up on the totem poll of power and social status.
"Saaaaay, that was rather cruel of you to do that and leave with no explanation, don't you think?"
Having been lost amongst her anxious thoughts, she nearly jumped out of her skin when Kizaru finally spoke. She immediately apologised again, "I'm sorry!"
Kizaru just continued to smile at her as she rushed out, "I was dared to by my friends!"
He raised his eyebrows, straightened up, and leaned towards her in interest. He tilted his head to the side and muttered,
"Oh? Were you now? Dared to kiss me, were you?"
Eva blushed in response, unaware of the dangerous note in his voice. "Well, not you specifically."
His smile turned more genuine at her retort, she noticed. Relaxing a bit, she continued, "I was dared to kiss anyone in here. You were the one I picked. I'm sorry about that. I didn't realise that you were an admiral!"
The Admiral chuckled. As he did so, Eva realised that she was physically drawn to him despite the age difference and the lingering fear that his attention had ignited in her. Maybe that was why she had been so disconcerted earlier? There was something about his presence that made her want more of it ever since he had guided her back to her group. Perhaps, she had not chosen him because of his apparent relationship status, but for a more basic reason.
She was snapped out of her thoughts when she felt his fingers tracing the edge of her face before gently cupping her chin. His face was much closer than before as he looked at her with dilated eyes. He was much more inebriated than she had realised. Softly, he said,
"Then you won't mind if I do this….?"
Gently, he placed his lips against hers. She gasped slightly, instinctively closing her eyes and wanting more as her strong arousal made itself known. He smiled against her lips, hearing her reaction.
"You like that, d-"
She cut him off, pressing her lips once more against his, caught in-between her intoxication and her burning desire. Her left over fear was forgotten as quickly as it had appeared. She reached up, feeling for his sunglasses, and took them off as he brushed his tongue along her mouth, asking for entry. She allowed him too, enjoying the exhilaration of his touch. Hands grasped her hips, gently tugging her off of her chair and pulling her towards him. She allowed him to guide her onto his lap and place her legs on either side of his torso.
He moved his hand back to her hips. This close to him, on his lap, she had to stretch to return his kissing. His hands were hot on her waist, keeping her still. Feeling brave, she allowed herself to slowly explore his jawline, feeling his thin beard with her dainty fingers. One of his hands started to slide its way under her shirt.
"Get a room, Borsalino!" A dark voice interrupted them.
Eva pulled away, inhaling deeply, as Kizaru merely grinned at the grumpy man behind her. Admiral Akainu. She blushed hard as she noticed that Kizaru had replaced his wandering hand back on her hip, holding her down against him. She had never been so turned on before, but she tried to get up anyways to keep whatever modicum of decorum she had left in front of the marines. Kizaru let her go with little resistance and she moved to stand awkwardly next to him, feeling the burning gaze of Akainu. Twisting the bottom of her shirt with her hands, she wished she could sink into the floor, as she noted the newest and youngest admiral sauntering in behind Akainu. Though Kuzan's gaze was much less interrogative, he still terrified her just by being there. Never in her life had she thought that she would even so much as see an admiral in person. Now, she was surrounded by three of them after drunkenly making out with one. She felt so small and insignificant in their presence, and the mortification towards her actions were unreal.
"I-I should go!"
Receiving no immediate response from any of the men, she took that as a sign that she could leave. Hurriedly placing the money she owed for her drinks on the table and leaving, she heard her Kizaru whine behind her,
"Did you have to scare her off, Sakazuki?"
She could not hear Akainu's response while she pushed open the front doors, but she did hear Kuzan's laughter over the din of the bar. Once outside, she breathed in deeply the fresh air and leaned back against the brick wall beside the door, furiously trying to bury her mortification. Just what the fuck had she done? Resisting the urge to bury her face in shame, she pulled herself together and left to head towards her home. Home was a small apartment nearby, easily within walking distance from the bar. The lights and noises of the city were not comforting as she made her way back. Her mind repeatedly replayed the night's surreal events back at her as she walked. Anxiously, she wished that she would forget about what had transpired when she woke up in the morning. She prayed that the admirals would forget too though she was doubtful on that front.
Coming up to her building, she pulled out her phone, texted Robin a goodnight, and resigned herself to having to wake up tomorrow.
