Hey everyone. This is my first Karen and Grace fanfiction. I have a lot of ideas where to take this story but I'll try to keep it simple without rushing into things and pushing things to an unrealistic level. I got the idea for this fanfiction from my friend on Instagram ( minigraciee) so the idea credit goes to her! I don't really know what to say in the beginning of stories so I'll stop rambling and let you get right to the story. One more note, English is not my first language so don't attack me if you find mistakes. Hope you enjoy the story!

/ btw I do not own any of these characters, all rights go to the creators of WaG /

Grace was tired when she got home from work. Karen had left hours ago to lunch with Jack, but as usual she didn't come back, so the office has been fairly quiet. Grace hadn't really gotten anything done, so she had closed the office earlier than usual. She was drained when she got inside her apartment and just crashed to the couch. She counted the quiet seconds in her head, knowing Will would come out of his room any second to greet her like usual, but he didn't. Grace opened her eyes and looked around. It was clean, extra clean. Grace knew Will only cleaned this meticulously when he had to leave Grace alone in the apartment. Grace stood up and walked to the kitchen, finding a note on the refrigerator.

Hey Gracie. Joe and Larry invited Jack and I to their new house in the country. Couldn't say no since Jack basically begged us to go. I cleaned, so don't you dare make a mess young missy. Also there's chicken ready in the fridge and I bought cookie dough if you want to make cookies. Oh who am I kidding you're just going to eat the dough raw. You got some mail, check that, it seemed important! I'll be back in a few days. - Will

Grace put the note aside and looked over at the dining table where the mail was. She grabbed the cookie dough and a spoon, walked over to the table grabbed the letters and sat down on the couch again. She flipped through the mail. Bills, bills, nothing for her really, these were all for Will to take care of. On the bottom on the stack there was a big envelope that was decorated with roses. Grace had a clue what she was going to see when she were to open it. She didn't want to open it but her fingers had already done the work.

Grace only needed to read the first five words when she got the reassurance to her betting. A wedding invitation. And it was from a person she hadn't talked to after college. Well she had seen Emily when she had dropped by her office one day asking for a favor. Grace had ended up decorating Emily's sisters house, but she didn't mind because she got paid really well. She saw her name at the bottom of the card with a small box next to it. The plus one box. Grace had already decided she wouldn't go alone. That was certain. But damn it, Will was out of town and so was Jack. Not that she would take Jack, but it would've been nice to even have him for a backups backup incase things were that bad.

And things were indeed that bad. There wasn't really anyone who she could take with her. Well, there was Karen. Although every time they were together somewhere, all hell broke loose. Alcohol was always involved, since Rosario always taped a flask to Karen's leg, and Karen had a bottle or two in her coat, depending which one she was wearing. Grace took a scoop of the dough and liked the spoon clean before making her decision. She would ask Karen to tag along with her to this wedding. She was one of her closest friends after all, and she was always there for her so why wouldn't she be right now.

Grace looked at the invitation again. May 25th. "May 25th?!" Grace screamed, almost chocking on the cookie dough. "That's in two days!" Grace rushed over to the phone and dialed Emily's number from the invitation. Or well, it probably wasn't Emily's number but someone who was in charge of the guests. Her thoughts were interrupted when she heard a hello at the other end of the line.

"Hello? Hi. I'm Grace Adler and I called to say that I'm coming to the wedding. I'm sorry for the late call but I got the invitation just now, it must have gotten lost in the mail."

"Oh yes, Grace Adler. You're actually the only one who hasn't confirmed your arrival yet."

She sounded so official and machine like, it annoyed Grace.

"And will you be taking someone with you?" The woman asked.

"Uh yes. Karen Walker is her name."

"Alright, we're going add you two to the list. We'll see you at the wedding."

"Okay thank you, bye." Grace said and removed the phone from her ear. "Yeah, like I'm gonna see you there." Grace said with a bit of annoyance in her voice "I don't even know who you are."

"Excuse me?" Said the woman. Apparently she hadn't hung up yet and she heard it all.

Grace hurried to apologize and then ended the call. She sighed and closed her eyes. What a great start, she thought. She had only tomorrow to find an outfit, pack and convince Karen to come with her to this wedding. Right now she was too tired to think about anything else than sleep, so she walked into her bedroom, got undressed and fell asleep.

The night went by all too quickly for Grace's liking. She had rushed through the morning to get to the office in time. She wasn't surprised when Karen waltzed in a few minutes before noon.

"Morning." She greeted as she put her purse down.

"Afternoon." Grace replied while measuring some swatches. She put them down and approached her assistant.

"Karen I need to ask for a favor-"

"Okay." She replied.

"But.. You don't even know what I'm going to ask you.." Grace said, a bit amazed that Karen had agreed, but still a bit worried that she would change her mind after all.

"Well honey, Stan's mother is in town. And after we announced our divorce she wants to talk to me about something. Probably tries to talk be back into it. No thanks. I'm done with him, and his family." Karen said. "So I'm in, anything that gets me out of having to spend time with them."

Shoot. Grace had totally forgotten about Karen's divorce. It hadn't been easy for her and they had often stayed in her office, drinking till 2AM before passing out, so she didn't have to go home to the manse. Now Grace felt bad about asking Karen to join her to the wedding, since she was going through her divorce.

"Well.. It's a wedding, and Will and Jack are out of town so I wanted to ask you to come with me. You know that I hate to go alone, because it looks sad to go alone.." Grace said carefully.

"And it would't look sad if two single women go together?" Karen asked before taking a sip from her martini.

"Well.." Grace started.

"Honey I'm kidding. I'm in. As long as there's free alcohol I'll go anywhere with you." She said with a small laugh. "Just tell me when and where and I'll be there."

Grace smiled and was grateful that Karen agreed to come. "We need to leave tomorrow morning, it's in New Jersey, but we have a hotel room for the night. The have some kind of a feast already tomorrow evening and the actual wedding on the day after that." Grace explained.

"Okay. Sounds good. You can pick me up at the manse tomorrow whenever you're ready." Karen said.

"Okay, great. Thank you Karen for coming with me." Grace said with a smile.

Karen looked at her friend in the eyes and smiled back. "No problem, honey."

Grace went back to work but for the rest of the day Karen was distracted from her drink and pill splitter. She knew Grace hated to go to weddings alone, so of course she was going to go with her. Her divorce wasn't even the thing that was worrying her at the moment. It was the fact that she was going to spend the next two days intensely with Grace. She was worried if she would actually be able to keep her mouth shut and not blurt out one of the most crucial reasons for her divorce. She hadn't loved Stan in a long while. She had loved Grace.

I hope you liked the first chapter of this story. I don't know how many chapters there will be but we'll see. I know this first chapter wasn't that exciting but things will get interesting so wait for that ;) Please review, and leave some ideas so maybe I can fit them in to this story!
