Promise
Dean walked in with careless steps breaking to get some rest. He looked at the empty bed beside his and brushed his hand over his brother's jacket, which was lying over the chair, unfolded. He knew, Sam was not coming back, he was gone forever. He promised to watch out for his little brother and that was the only fucking job he cared about so much but at the end, he failed. Sam went to hell and he kept staring and when everything was over he could do nothing other than to curse himself for letting his brother fall into that pit hole.
He got so messed up, his whole life had nothing been but messy yet there were times, moments when he felt a hint of joy and that was with his little brother. But now, nothing was left. He had no one to call his family, no one to trust or depend on.
"I'm sorry Dean" a voice came from behind. Dean turned around and saw Castiel standing. He moved slowly towards Dean and handed over the amulet and uttered in a very low voice, "you forgot this."
Dean stared at him and wavered, "Can't you bring him back Cass?"
Castiel glanced at him for a second and lowered his eyes with a hollow expression while a sigh escaped his lips that gave the message that nothing could be done, it was not just about Sam, Lucifer was involved too.
Dean nodded as he could understand what he wanted to say, a tear drop rolled down his cheek as he turned back while he could hear Cass vanish with that flapping noise of his.
All the memories were knocking him hard, he remembered those days when he would drive along with Sam beside him, turn on Metallica which would be really irritating for his brother though; hunt down monsters and then have the Bitch-Jerk conversation. Everything was perfect, at least compared to his present situation.
He swept his head hard with his hand, felt like pain. He could feel words scratching his skull when in the midst of all those chaos he remembered the promise that he made to Sam, The damn normal apple pie life promise.
Dean had to keep his promise so he accepted, took the words as the only reason to live on with the rest of his life. He looked at the Scarlet sky and felt the soft breeze flowing. He knew that it was the new dawn of his life that he had to carry on, so as he grabbed his things he swore that he would not look back and would go on with his life and keep his promise that he made to his little brother.
