Most people would find us odd, I mean we did shave our heads together. I'm sure that most people would find it odd and funny to look at, who wouldn't with six bald teenagers from 15 to 18, but that's just who we are what we do one we do all. We have since Bella first got cancer eleven years ago when we were six.
My name is Mary Alice Swan I have two sisters and two brothers my siblings Leah Ann Swan and Seth David Swan are my adoptive siblings our dad adopted them about eight years ago when there mom adopted us. My other siblings are Emmett Christopher Swan and Isabella Marie Swan we are triplets. Our birth mom Renee left when we were five and who we consider our real mom Sue adopted us after she married our dad Charlie. Leah and Seth's birth dad died right before Bella got cancer, Seth was four and Leah was seven. We have always been close so we all shaved our heads so Bella wouldn't feel so different(including our best friend Edward Anthony Cullen, who is the same age as Emmett, Bella, and I). Two years later Sue married dad and almost a year after that she officially became our mom, and dad legally became a father of five.
Two years after that we found out unfortunately Bella's cancer was back. We were all devastated especially since we were old enough to really understand what was happening this time Seth was 9, Emmett, Bella, Edward, and I were 11, and Leah was 12. Again we all shaved our heads in solidarity, this time the boys didn't get there hair cut until us girls got ours trimmed. Luckily it was a battle that we eventually won, we also found out that Emmett is a match and can donate bone marrow and the like to Bella unfortunately I am only a partial match. Over the next few years everyone was perfectly healthy and we assumed(hoped), wrongly, that the cancer was gone for good, which is why it came as such a shock when the cancer came back six years later when we were 17 halfway through our junior year, Leah was a senior and Seth a freshmen.
Emmett Bella and I were visiting our birth mom Renee the week after Christmas when it happened. It was very early new years day and we were getting ready for bed after watch the ball drop, when out of no where Bella nose starts to really bleed and it wouldn't stop so we got Renee and Phil (Renee's husband) and went to the hospital were they confirmed our fears that the cancer was back.
Since Bella needed to start treatment immediately, it was decided that Bella would go to the Mayo clinic in Jacksonville for treatment. We were already down there and Bella couldn't fly across the country to Seattle for her treatment. Over the next few months the seven of us(me, Leah, Emmett, Edward, Seth, mom, and dad) took turns spending the week with Bella and taking her schoolwork to her, so she didn't fall behind. Us teenagers also shaved our heads in solidarity, it's become somewhat of a tradition.
After almost four long and tortuous months we finally got the news we were hoping for Bella was cancer free (Emmett had given Bella some bone marrow) hopefully, Bella stays that way. Finally mid-May Bella was healthily enough to come home. Thankfully our grades didn't slip and we all finished the year and watched Leah graduate high school.
