Unorthodox
The sun was shining, the birds were chirping and a pleasant breeze swept through the area. It was a beautiful day. But for Ryuuji, he didn't have time to admire it all. Everything relied on this game, and if he failed, countless people would be so disappointed.
It was ritual for him and Pegasus to sit down together once a month and play a simple game. There was no real reason for this. Ever since Pegasus agreed to sponsor his game, he had gotten around to inviting the teen over to play. Nothing special ever happened. They just played the game and chatted about business. That was all. Lately though, since business had been picking up, Ryuuji hadn't been able to find time to play. However, since Pegasus claimed it was urgent, he had come.
Now this time, Pegasus had told him that if Ryuuji lost, he would withdraw his funds from Ryuuji's stores. He said it so matter-of-factly, Ryuuji instantly believed him.
The game, "Sorry!" ironically enough, was a long and heart pounding game with lots of close calls. Finally, it came to the point where Ryuuji would win with the next throw of the dice. Instead of throwing them, he laid them down.
"Sir, if you had wanted to withdraw your funds, you would have done so yourself without going to all of this trouble. Do you honestly plan on removing your sponsorship if I lose?" He asked, troubled.
"Quite the perceptive boy you are," the older man chuckled. "You never played with me anymore and when you did you weren't taking me seriously with our games and really that's no fun at all."
Ryuuji lifted his eyebrows at the man who simply shrugged. "Well, I missed you too." He said sarcastically.
"Good to hear," Pegasus replied wistfully.
