Disclaimer:I do not own any Inuyasha characters, I just own this one-shot. Everything else belongs to Rumiko Takahashi :D Bless her.
It was cool and the air was crisp. The crickets were making soft music while the frogs were croaking. The sky was clear of clouds and you could see the beautiful stars shining in the open sky.
On this night you could find our miko, Kagome, and her protector and friend sitting on the crest of a hill, side by side, staring up at the stars. Both seemed content and at peace, neither wanting to disturb the precious silence.
Finally, though, that silence had to be broken.
"Inuyasha, look, a shooting star!" Kagome said as she clasped her hands and bowed her head. "Make a wish."
"Keh, wench, I don't need to make no wish. That's what we are looking for the shards of the Shikon no Tama for; any other wish is just pointless." Inuyasha said as he scowled at the still wishing priestess.
"But Inuyasha, it's still going to take us awhile to find all the jewel shards. We better use what we can get until then."
"Tch, what did you wish for, anyway?" The hanyou questioned as he gazed back up at the clear sky.
"I can't tell you, otherwise it might never come true." Kagome said as she leaned back on her hands and gazed up at the stars as well.
"Bah! It probably won't come true anyway." Inuyasha said as he folded his arms in his sleeves.
Kagome looked down with a solemn look on her beautiful face.
"Probably won't" She mumbled to herself, not expecting an answer.
"Well if you don't think it will come true either, why won't you tell me?" The half demon looked over at her.
"Because, Inuyasha, I can still hope." Kagome said as she looked away from the hanyou.
"Whatever."
Kagome just sighed and looked back at the stars.
'My wish is only a pipe dream' Kagome thought. 'Inuyasha would never look at me as anything but his shard detector.' She sighed, yawned and lay on her back with her hands behind her head.
Inuyasha snuck a peak at her wondering what she could be thinking.
'If she only knew how much I love her,' Inuyasha thought as he sighed and gazed at the now slumbering miko.
Inuyasha gently picked her up and carried her back to Keade's hut.
'If she only knew.'
I just want to thank everyone who has read this. This is officially my first FanFiction. I've practiced but this is the first I've actually submitted to . Constructive criticism is encouraged. I'll even except any flames with open arms. I'm sorry for any mistakes I may have missed, as well.
Until I can come up with another readable One-Shot/Story, goodbye :D
