"You have too many loyalties." Smoker settled on the edge of the bed. Warm droplets of water from the marine's freshly washed hair landed on Ace's back as he lay stretched out. Smoker smoothed them away with his thumb, memorizing for the thousandth time the curve of his ribs.
Ace laughed quietly. "Is that so?"
"It's just gonna get you backed into a corner one day."
A shrug rolled over the pirate's shoulders in reply. "Maybe, but we both know I'm not good for anything on my own." It was the truth, but that didn't mean Smoker had to agree.
