A/N: I'm starting out on here with a challenge from Percy Jackson and the Land of Writing – Gemstone challenge. It's my first fic so go easy. Prompt: Peridot - Protects against negativity & nightmares. Healing to damaged relationships. Write about: a demigod having a positive dream.

It was June now.

It felt as though he had been missing forever. She'd stopped counting days a few months in. It just made it worse.

Annabeth threw another stone into the canoe lake. The ripples washed out across the dark water, breaking the reflection of the moon into a thousand pieces. She wondered if Percy could see the moon looking back at him in the Roman camp. Maybe Artemis could take a message … if she wasn't so opposed to boys. Maybe …

Annabeth's mind worked on plan after plan, as it had been doing for months, but she let it work as if at a distance. She had almost given up. Annabeth threw another stone.

A naiad broke out of the dark water rubbing her head angrily. Then she saw Annabeth and her eyes softened.

"It'll be OK," she said softly. Annabeth looked up in surprise, it was one of the older naiads; less giggly, kinder.

"What will?" asked Annabeth, returning to her usual demeanour, she could only let herself be sad when she was alone. This naiad was not a camper, but she needed to see Annabeth as strong.

"The Son of Poseidon is safe. He will return." Annabeth was about to interrupt, but the naiad continued, "get some sleep Daughter of Athena."

And somehow, that seemed like a good idea, "I will; thank you."

The naiad smiled, "we wish you luck in your quest, Annabeth," and with a fountain of water, reflecting in the moonlight, she dived back into the water.

Annabeth turned back to the Athena cabin, her feet damp from the wet grass; it was late now, dew already forming. She pushed open the door, it didn't creak. Malcom lay on his bunk reading by moonlight, but the cabin was dark.

Malcom looked up as she came in, "I called lights out without you," he whispered, "you should get some sleep Annie, you can't keep on like this."

Annabeth nodded, "you should get some sleep yourself, reading all night."

Malcom grinned sheepishly. Annabeth gave a soft laugh and lay down on her bunk, she suddenly realised how tired she was and slowly fell asleep. Forgetting to change, she drifted off to dreamland.

Of course, demigod dreams are rarely restful.

Annabeth dreamed she was chasing someone. Someone who was heart-achingly familiar.

"Percy!" she cried.

Trying to reach him she kept talking, "Thank the gods!" It felt so good just to see his face; there was he seemed happy to see her. Even if this is a just a dream … please let him remember me, she thought.

"For months and months we couldn't see you! Are you all right?"

Percy looked confused for a moment, "Are you real?" He asked urgently.

Oh gods. His face was dissolving. Annabeth reached out in desperation, "Stay put! It'll be easier for Tyson to find you! Stay where you are!"

And the dream was over. She had no more that night, but somehow; just seeing his face, just seeing the recognition in his eyes made her feel better.

She slept more soundly than she had in months and she woke up feeling stronger.

He never forgot me.

That's it. I hope it follows the challenge properly; it's not exactly a positive dream, just the outcome of it. Also I'm a little worried Annabeth is OOC, any tips you could give to make that better are greatly appreciated.

Yours in demigodishness and all that…

Thanks guys.
