She didn't know whether to smile or cry as she sat in the darkness that surrounded her, so instead she gave out a maniacal laugh that echoed without end.

Alice sat under a tree watching the cherry blossoms dancing in the wind, letting her thoughts wander. For the past couple of weeks she had been busy planning, only to have her plans thwarted. Three of those times had been by accident but she was sure that the third and fifth time hadn't been coincidence. Apparently, the "stupid clown" wasn't so stupid.
Her plans had included accidental drowning, "tripping" onto something sharp, and poison, among other things. She knew that she still had some time left but the closer it got to the deadline the harder it would be for everyone. As Oz's time was slowly fading so was Alice's façade. It was getting harder to put on her arrogant smirk and pretend that nothing was wrong.
It had started when the clock over Oz's heart hit "eight." The memories, though they felt more like nightmares, began haunting her at night. The faces of those that suffered because of her, both past and present, were always running in her mind. Every time she saw the stupid clown and his missing eye, the seaweed head and his conflicted gaze that held hate and friendship, or the mere thought of Oz or Cheshire made her heart ache and her stomach revolt.
She was no longer human, if she had ever been one to begin with, and yet she had emotions and feelings that seemed to be too much for her at times. Her feelings from the now clashed and merged with the feelings from then, making her ache physically one moment and numbing her the next. But worse than that was the loneliness that clung to her, she couldn't shake it off nor could she stop the way it cut through her so deeply she wouldn't have been surprised if she bled.
"Who knew dying in a way that doesn't make them feel guilty would be so difficult" Alice sighed. Just as she was about to get up to try her luck on plan "F" she felt something a little ways behind the tree she was sitting under. She had felt this before and made a great effort not to stiffen her body in response. It was that same aura, that of something dark and angry hidden within nothingness, that she had felt that night long ago in her tower. Alice slowly looked up at the cherry blossoms once more and smiled as she felt cool metal slowly penetrating her back followed by a burning sensation and a sharp pain in her heart. As the pain faded into darkness her last thought was, I hope they won't blame themselves.
This is my first fanfic ever so I hope it doesn't suck much ^_^
