Konan Ame had nine men in her life.
The first one she had ever known was her own brother, Nagato. Nagato was only a year older and they had always gotten along; even though they were in their early twenties now, they still protected each other. There was no man she would ever love as much – boyfriends came and go, but Nagato would always be there.
The second one was her foster father, Madara. Since their parents had died early, Nagato and Konan had been taken in by a man called Madara Uchiha. He had a lot of expectations from them – especially Nagato – and there had been a lot of fights, especially after she hit puberty, because there was no way she would let Madara mock her brother.
With Madara came Itachi, Madara's nephew whose family had been killed in a car accident. Itachi was three years younger than her and a rather silent individual. They had never interacted much, and since Itachi had been accepted into a high-class university, she hadn't seen him in a while.
When she finished school, her and Nagato moved out and went to university together. They lived in the same dorm, and since Madara refused to pay for it, she started working at a crafts store where she met number three, four and five – her co-workers Sasori and Deidara and her boss Kakuzu. Sasori was a loner, which clashed with Deidara's talkative personality. They often fought, forcing her to calm their arguments, usually by giving them both a good smack.
Kakuzu, her boss, had quickly become something of a guardian figure. Sure, he was profit-oriented and often seemed cold, he had high expectations and could always see right through her, but she could always be honest with him and as long as she did her job properly, they got along fine.
She had dated number six, Kisame Hoshigaki, for a while, but when it seemed that he liked his sword (he practiced Kendo) more than her, she broke up with him. They had been friends ever since; Kisame was deep-down a nice guy, but his looks and obsession with his sword often scared away women. She was the one woman who got to see his sensitive side, comforting him when another relationship had failed.
Number seven was Yahiko, Nagato's roommate and, half a year later, boyfriend. Yahiko was almost like a second brother with the advantage of not being bothered by helping her pick outfits. The three of them spent a lot of time together, and she could say that they were both her best friends.
Zetsu was number eight and the person who gave her the space she needed; they shared a fondness for plants and often spent time together at the park. She'd listen to him explain what flower was good for which purpose and encourage him on his pursuit of Ino, the pretty girl from the flower shop.
Number 9, Hidan, was her sex. They weren't dating or anything, never had, but he was probably the most intriguing person she had ever met and, with his hot body and handsome face, every woman's wet dream – until he started trying to convert them to his religion.
They were a crazy bunch, the lot of them, but in a way, she loved them all despite their quirks. Whether they talked to plants, rambled about their violent religion, counted money as a hobby, obsessed over their little brother or had a God complex – they were her family and she loved them.
