"Look at that bitch" Katherine said standing staring out the window, holding a cup of coffee that had long since gone cold.
"Really Kathy this is getting old" Bree said as she stood from the chair she'd been planted in for thirty minutes watching her friend steam. "I understand you're hurt but really don't you think it's time to move on, just a little"
The redhead said coming up behind the younger woman gently resting her hand on the others shoulder giving a soft reassuring squeeze. Bree really hated seeing her like this, understanding in her own way the pain the other was going through.
"What am I just supposed to stand by and watch them be the happy little family? Like I never existed" She said coldly. "We hadn't even been married three weeks before he started fucking around with her"
Bree could tell Katherine was fighting to keep her tough exterior, so she started to rub her hand back and forth on the others shoulder trying in vain to ease some of the pain.
"I know what he did to you was terrible, marrying you when he knew he was still in love with her. He's a no good..." She stuttered trying to find the right word to describe her best friends ex-husband.
"Asshole. Asshole is the word you're looking for" She said with of a hint smirk playing on her lips.
That made the redhead light up, it had been a very long time since she'd seen her friend smile. "Yes you're right he's a no good asshole" She said dragging out the last word because she knew the other had always been amused by her cursing.
Katherine finally turned from the picture window leaving behind the image of her current sorrow.
Bree took a good long look at the woman before her. They'd been through the ringer in their friendship, going from enemies to business partners to best friends. Bree knew the new feeling stirring inside her would undoubtedly ruining everything they'd built and that along with her faith and fear of what people would think/say about her was holding back from acting upon the longing she felt every time she was near her best friend.
She couldn't be sure just when the feeling started, she guessed it happened around the time their divorcees were going through. Bree was shocked at the outcome of Katherine's short-term marriage to that fleebag plumber. In less then three weeks of marriage he was already chasing the tail of his ex, after four months the divorce papers were filed.
"Kathy" She said taking a long breathe. "The man was a dog undeserving of you." She said with a sigh as she raised her slender head to brush a stray strand of auburn hair from the others face. "I truly believe you'll find the great love of your life with whom you'll spend forever with." She said with an adoring look before turning to leave the room.
"Fresh cup of coffee dear?" The redhead asked as she disappeared into the kitchen.
Katherine was left gaping confused by her friend's words. After a moment she began to follow the other into the kitchen forgetting completely the sickening display of love that was currently going on across the street.
