"It's colder outside Short Story

Kate Beckett had been more colder than normal for this time of the year. I am trying to get warm by the fire place. While Castle's puppy Royal has been keeping me company until his master comes home from the P.I. office.

It was a great idea giving Castle a puppy for Christmas. Ever since he and myself were involved with the real Royal awhile back.

Royal had always been one of his all time favorite dogs. And now he has a carbon copy sitting on my lap. While we both chill out on the couch in the living room..

The reason why I'm cold is the fact after arriving home from work. I had to be the one to walk little Royal before winding up going inside the loft.

I had decided to get up from the couch to make myself a hot tea with lemon. Leaving Royal to look after me. I know for the fact that he's waiting for Castle to play with his master.

I haven't been able to get warm all day. Having to be out in the field most of the day with the boys investigating a body found in the Hudson harbor.

Even Lanie complained about being cold as well with temperatures having to be in the low teens. And snow forecast for the next couple of days.

I hear Royal crying a little for what ever reason it might be. I leave my tea and the saucer on the counter to check out Royal sitting up on the grey couch.

It was at that point.

I hear the door opening up. Royal jumps off the couch to almost knock my husband over moving into the room.

"Jesus Royal!; This is what I call a real royal welcome!" He said to a chuckling Kate Beckett coming over to rescue him from the tiny fur ball full of energy.

"So tell me, Babe." Moving Royal out of his way. "Is it still very cold outside?" Coming back to steal a kiss from her husband on the chilled lips.

"Yes it is sweetie!" He replied as both his wife and Royal are now too very close to him.

"Well lets just say Rick, I'm no longer cold any more now that your home." She said a huge smile on her face.

"Then I suggest you put Royal into his home. So that I can really keep you warm Kate!" Telling her with a twinkle in his deep dark blue eyes.
