Max POV

My mom had let us stay up tonight, to watch the ball drop in New York City. The TV showed people wearing sunglasses that said '2009,' and huge, funky hats. There was a lot of screaming, that only got louder as the clock ticked down. Gazzy and Iggy had made home-made sparklers, and everyone was now lounging around the living room. Mom had made some cookies earlier on, and I had burnt my tongue (again). Whoops. I drank some more lemonade, as I watched the last ten minutes tick away.

And in those last fifteen seconds, while I was watching the younger kids laugh and play, I looked over at Fang. He looked in my direction, and we continued looking at each other. I swear a current passed through us or something, because when there was only four seconds left, we both leapt off the couches and met in the middle of the living room.

His hand came up to cradle my face, as he leaned in and kissed me. He tasted delicious…like chocolate, from the cookies, and something else. Something I couldn't put a name on. It was like a forbidden fruit, something that is so delicious, so tempting, you have to have more. I started feeling kind of dizzy, but I managed to hear the countdown end, and feel a pair of arms now resting on my waist. I wrapped my arms around his neck, and kept kissing Fang. Oh my god. This felt so…good--in so many ways. I would give up cookies for the rest of my life, if I could keep kissing Fang. We broke apart, but rested our foreheads against each other.

Fang POV

Mrs. Martinez was being pretty cool about letting seven kids, high on chocolate, stay up to watch the ball drop. Plus Total, although I think he passed out a few hours ago. I watched the people on TV count down to the new-year, and felt someone looking at me. I turned my head, and saw Max looking at me. We stayed like that for awhile, almost as if we were in a trance. Gazzy could have farted and I wouldn't have noticed.

Okay, so I probably would notice, because those clouds are green, but you get my gist.

Acting on impulse, I jumped off the couch, with four seconds to go, only to meet Max in the middle of the living room. Perfect. I reached up, and took her face in my palm. I noted how she trembled under my touch. I'd have to smirk at her later—I was too focused on the matter at hand. I leaned forward, and kissed her on the lips. Her lips molded to mine, and moved against them compatibly. I could feel her lips become more fervent, and wrapped my arms around her waist. She responded by wrapping her arms around my neck, and teasing me with her tongue on my lower lip--that little vixen. I met her tongue, and tasted her. She tasted freaking amazing. Like pop rocks and lemonade, except combined, and delicious. I craved her, like a fish without water. She was delectable. She pulled back, and rested her forehead against mine. What a way to start the New Year.

I had to write this quickly before I go over to a friend's house. Have an awesome New Year everyone. Don't forget to review. Seriously, it will make my year. :)
