Ah... It's February, coldest month of the year, second month of the year, a month that ends in "Y"... oh yeah, and it's Valentine's month. Oops. Yeah, that's my opinion on Valentine's Day - I'm not fond of it... at all. Never have been, never will be... Eh. Even so, I still decided to write a fic for it, a short, 518-word fic. A fluffy fic. So that's what this is, my fic of February, my late Valentine's Day fic.

Disclaimer: I don't own Kingdom Hearts.

I never really liked Valentine's Day. Everything was cheesy, and romancy, and heart-shaped, and this dreaded day always reminded me that I had no one to hold dear in that lovey-dovey way. And you know what? I didn't care until this year. Before this year, on the dreaded Valentine's Day, I was at home, controller in one hand, chip in another, music playing and phone at my ear, playing video games and talking on the phone with my best-friend-since-kindergarten Riku. That's what happened every year except for this year.

Everything changed this year.

This year Riku never picked up the phone. This year, my console was broken. This year, there were no chips. This year, I really was alone.

And I didn't like that.

And just as I was about to to go bed, to give up on this dreaded holiday, the doorbell rang. So who would come to my house at—I glanced at the clock—12:30? Slowly, I walked over to the door, and hesitantly, not really thinking of the possible consequences, I opened it. I was shocked to see who waited on the other side.

There, with a goofy smile on his face, was Riku, his console and all the wires that went with it under one arm, a bag of chips and two controllers under the other. "Hey," He said, "You ready to play?"

I could only stand and stare at him for a few seconds before a grin spread across my face and I said, stepping aside so he could come in, "Yeah."

Riku smiled at me some more as I closed and locked the door. We proceeded into the living room and we started hooking up Riku's console to the TV.

"So, what game did you bring?" I asked, plugging the console into the wall.

"The game we always play." He replied simply, turning both the TV and the console on and handing me a controller.

The game started, and as we played on, a smile slowly spread across our faces. Suddenly, the pause screen came up. I looked at Riku, confused. He simply leaned over and pressed a light kiss to my cheek, whispering the simple words, "Also, happy late Valentine's."

It took a few seconds for my mind to process what just happened, but when it did, I leaned over and returned his kiss to the cheek, uttering back, "Yeah, happy Valentine's to you too."

And right after that, we both smiled, and then unpaused the game and continued playing, now closer friends—or maybe something more—than before.

Hey, remember when I said that everything changed this year, all on the dreaded Valentine's Day? Well, it wasn't a lie, everything did change, but in a good way.

But I still don't like Valentine's Day.

I don't need roses, or candy, or little cheesy love notes. I don't need all those when I have an awesome friend like Riku. Riku, the one who plays games with me on that dreaded Valentine's Day just because there's nothing else to do. And you know what?

I want it to stay that way.

Yup... simple, fluffy, Valentine's fic. Now, I know I never mentioned whose POV this is written from, but hey, it could be anyone! XD Nah, it's from Xion's POV. Though really, with the way I wrote it, it could be anyone... huh... so yeah, there's a special little fic... themed... eh. Review~!
