"Athrun! Athrun!" A young, child-like voice called out. "What are you doing?" A little girl with blonde hair was running around in the fields.

"Athrun! Athrun!" her footsteps could be heard. She caught sight of a blue-haired boy under a tree.

An angry pout formed on her face as she stomped over to him.

"Athrun!" Cagalli screamed as she neared him. "What are you doing here? You're supposed to play catch with me!" she complained.

Athrun squirmed momentarily when he heard the blonde's loud voice. He turned back slowly to face her. Silently he hoped she would not be too furious.

"Cagalli." Athrun greeted with a sheepish smile.

Cagalli thought she was going to explode with anger. "You promised to play with me and yet you went missing somewhere!" she shouted.

Athrun listened to all of Cagalli's screams and complaints. She was as cute as usual even when she was angry. What he actually wanted to do was to give something to her.

"Here!" Athrun shyly placed a crown of pansies on Cagalli's head in the midst of her brawling. She was surprised and raised her hands to touch the beautiful tiara made up of flowers of yellow and purple.

"They look nice on you." Athrun turned a little pink.

Cagalli looked quizzically at Athrun. "Why did you give me this?" she asked.

"You said you wanted a crown of flowers remember? When you saw a girl having them when we were playing here." Athrun replied.

"Really?" Cagalli continued to caress the flowers before breaking out into a big smile. "Thank you!" she said cheerily.

"You're…you're welcome…" Athrun was just a little boy, but was still embarrassed when the girl he liked thanked him.

Cagalli began running around in circles happily with he new possession on her head. Athrun watched her and continued to blush.

"Ca…Cagalli…" Athrun stammered, playing uneasily with his fingers. "I…I…I like you a lot…"

Cagalli stopped in her tracks, looking at Athrun. Athrun got more and more uneasy by the minute. He did not dare to look at Cagalli now.

Cagalli broke the silence. "But if you like me, you have to give me a ring. That's what aunties and uncles do." She replied innocently.

Athrun stood rooted to the ground, gaping. "So…so…" Before he could continue, Cagalli was back to her own little game again.

Cagalli opened a little brown box decorated with gold ends. Inside was littered with mementos of all sorts. Gently, she touched a small ring of withered flowers in the box. She smiled at the memory it brought. When she and Athrun were just children, she had told him that he should give her a ring if he likes her, and not a crown of flowers. With that, Athrun had made a ring out of pansies the very next day and gave it to her. She remembered how delighted she was with the present. It became her treasure and it still is till this day.

"Cagalli!" Athrun's voice called out from outside their room. "Are you ready? We have to go!"

"Coming!" Cagalli answered. She took a last look at the beautiful memories the box contained with a smile on her face before closing it again. Carefully, she put it away.

As Cagalli got up to leave the room, sunlight which had penetrated into the room was caught by the dazzling diamond ring on the fourth finger on her left hand. Just like the ring made of pansies, this ring was destined to shine forever.
