A/N: This is for more-than-words. The prompt was to write a fluffy piece of Henry and Elizabeth teaching together at UVa. I hope this counts as that. It starts at UVa and ends at home. Their First Day The alarm rang at 6:00, signaling the beginning of a new day. But this day was extra special. It was Elizabeth and Henry's first day teaching at UVa. Henry had been a professor before at another university, but him and Elizabeth decided to move to Charlottesville. Elizabeth had never been a professor before, so she was nervous, but also up for the challenge. Elizabeth hit the button on the alarm clock, causing it to stop making the annoying noise. She rolled over to see Henry staring at her. They scooted closer together and his arm went around her waist. "Are you nervous for today?" He asked. "Kind of, but I know I'll get through it." "I'm sure you will. We are going to be the power couple of teaching." Henry joked. She giggled, which caused him to smile because he loves it when she laughs, especially when he is the reason why. They got up and showered, unfortunately they didn't have time to do it together. Elizabeth got dressed while Henry went into the shower. She wore a nice blue dress shirt with a black blazer and black dress pants. For the rest of the year, she would dress more casual, but she wanted to make a good impression on the first day of classes. She was pouring her coffee into her mug when Henry walked down the stairs. Henry walked behind her and wrapped his arms around her waist while leaning his head down so that he could speak into her hair. "You look gorgeous." Henry said. "Thanks babe. So do you." They continued their morning routine, including getting the kids ready before they finally embarked on the journey to UVa. Henry reached his hand over and placed it over Elizabeth's. "You are going to do great." Henry said. Elizabeth nodded her head. Hours later, Henry walked across the lawn to meet Elizabeth in her office. His first day was great and he was anxious to hear about how Elizabeth's went. He went to the political science department and navigated the hallways before he reached Elizabeth's door. He smiled when he saw her nameplate on the wall beside the door. After opening the door, he saw his gorgeous wife sitting at her desk going through some papers. She was wearing her adorable thinking face. "Hey babe." Henry said, causing Elizabeth to look up. She immediately got up from her seat and walked over to give him a hug. "Today was great. I can tell teaching is going to be so much fun. I mean I could just see the eagerness in my student's eyes. I'm so excited to get started." Elizabeth said. Henry laughed, he knew she would be thrilled to start teaching. Elizabeth had had her head on his chest, so she lifted it up to talk to him. "I love you so much." Elizabeth said. She kissed him passionately before he had the chance to respond. "I love you too." Henry picked up her bag and they walked to their car together, with their arms around each other's waists. When they arrived home, all of their kids were in their rooms. Luckily, Stevie was old enough to watch her siblings for the hour that her parents weren't home. Henry and Elizabeth went to all of the kid's rooms asking about their days. They told them that dinner would be ready in a half an hour. Then, they walked back downstairs and Henry started to make pasta. After dinner, Elizabeth and Henry were snuggled in their bed, after celebrating their first day in their own special way. "I think the bucolic life is going to work well for us," Elizabeth said. "I agree. I can't wait to spend more time with you now that you have a job where hours are official," Henry said and they both laughed.
Eventually, they drifted off to sleep, both having dreams of how special and amazing this time of their lives would be.
