Alarms were blaring aaround the prison. A lone convict was lurking around the halls, trying to slip past the armed gaurds with out being noticed. He quickly pressed himself against a door way as two gaurds were walking down the hall. Praying, the convict slid down the door way to be less likely noticed. The two gaurds walked by and the convict was able to hear a partial bit of their conversation.
"How did he escape?"
"I don't know."
"Heh, I always thought he was barking mad."
"Be quiet, that was a terrible joke."
"Sorry. just trying to llighten the mood."
The two guards passed by, and the convict snuck out of the doorway and dashed to the exit. Once on the prison grounds, the convict dived into the nearest shelter, which in this case happened to be some bushes. After landing amongst the the leaf and thorn covered branches, he caught his breath.
"I'll be free soon. Just a little more to go." He thought as he slithered along the prison wall.
"There he is!" A guard shouted.
"Well so much for an easy escape." the convict started to run.
"Block the entrances!"
The man darted for an ivy lined wall and sarted to climb up, until he was pulled down by a burely guard. The gaurd pulled out a knife and ran at the convict. He aeasily doged and used the man a spring board and jumped on the top of the wall.
"Good day to you sir! May you rot in hell." The man bowed and hopped off the other side.
Once in the streets of Sydney, after stealing a coat and some civilian clothing, he was looking for a ship to London. He promptly took a discarded newspaper and looked for times for docking and departures. There was one leaving shortly, around noon. The man looked in a window at a clock shop and saw it was 11:45., and the docks were 15 minutes away. He ran towards the docks, knocking various people out of the way, including the prison guard who tried to knife him.
"Get back here!" the guard started to chase after him.
The man weaved through out the crowd at the overly populated market place. The guard was in hot pursuit whilst knocking over everyone in his way. The convict threw down a near by barrel of apples, the guard quickly fell and brought a woman who started to beat him with her coin purse.
The man continued to the docks and the noon bells started tolling- he had to find that then noticed the ship he was looking for was pulling out of the harbor. He dashed of the dock and swam to it. Grabbing ahold of the anchor that was weighing, he was lifted to the deck and snuck down below.
Within a few days the man became used to hiding when there was a crew member nearby, which wasn't all that often. The passengers told him of their lives and thought he was a passenger as well. The waters became rough and extreme. A dark tempest hit the ship not long after encountering the harsh waves. Not long after the tempest started, the ship was under water. leaving only scraps of wood to cling to, and for the convict: everything went black.
"Sir...sir?" a young voice came to him.
"Huh?"
"Excuse me sir, what's your name?"
Thinking back to a friends of his, who was also unjustly accused of a crime he didn't commit.
"Todd, Sweeny Todd."
