I was bored, so I decided to write this.
Summary: AU. A bet between husband and wife about the color of their newborn's eyes. Random one-shot. HHr pairing. Mentions of Draco/Ginny, Ron/Luna.
Chocolate Brown or Emerald Green? :
"She looks beautiful Hermione." Harry Potter murmured to his wife of 2 ½ years, glancing at his newborn daughter, whom was fast asleep in her mother's arms. He pecked Hermione's cheek and smiled at her lovingly. Emily Lily Potter. Their first child. She was a splitting image of both Harry and Hermione Potter. She had Harry's curly hair but in the shade of brown. She also had Hermione's ears and mouth, but Harry's nose.
"I know. Harry." His wife replied, sighing contentedly.
"Congratulations mate! My god daughter..." Ron shook his head disbelievingly and beamed, patting Harry on the shoulder and eyeing at Hermione. Harry smiled back at his best friend of many years. "Thanks Ron. Who knows? In a few years, you and Luna might just take our place!" Hermione teased, smirking.
Ron blushed, the color of his cheeks matching his hair. Luna simply looked away shyly, while Harry smirked as well, observing their entwined fingers and the engagement ring on Luna's finger.
"But then again, Ginny will go first." Luna commented.
"Don't remind me; I still don't get why my sister married Malfoy."
Everyone chuckled. Yes, Draco and Ginivera Malfoy were married and expecting a child.
Ron glanced at his watched and groaned. "We got to go now mate. Mum is expecting us for Lunch back at the Burrow."
"Thanks for coming guys."
"Don't mention it. Bye Hermione! We'll visit tomorrow!"
"Bye Ron, Luna."
"Bye Hermione, Harry." Luna waved and left with Ron.
And the couple was alone once again, with Emily in deep slumber.
"Hermione?"
"Hmm?"
"Thank you. For giving me the family I always wanted."
"Your welcome Harry." Hermione smiled and pecked his cheek.
There was silence for a mere moment, the small family enjoying one another's company.
"You know love; we still don't know what her eye color is."
"It will be brown, trust me."
"Brown? I think it will be green, like me."
"I'm her mother, I know these things."
"There is a 50% chance you know 'Mione?"
"Now who's acting like me hmm?" Hermione giggled slightly.
Harry simply chuckled and thought for a moment.
"Tell you what love; if her eyes are green, I get to help you get over your fears about flying on a broom."
"Fine with me Harry. But if her eyes are brown, then ..."
Hermione didn't get to finish, for their daughter was squiring in her mother's warm arms. "She's waking up." Harry whispered. Hermione gave him a 'obviously' look.
Moments later, Emily Potter fluttered her eyes open and...
MONTHS LATER...
"I can't believe I actually agreed to this." Hermione grumbled, mounting on Harry's broom, wrapping her arms tightly around her husband's shoulders.
"Hey, I won the bet, didn't I?" Harry shot back, grinning. "Ready love?"
"Let's just get this over with Potter."
They took off, with Hermione squeezing her eyes shut completely, not daring to look.
And Emily Lily Potter watched her parents from her baby chair, cooing at her Aunt Luna and Uncle Ron, whom were babysitting her while; they too, watched Harry and Hermione.
Luna picked Emily up and carried her. Emily clapped her hands happily, looking at her Uncle who was making faces at her.
With beautiful piercing emerald green eyes of course.
The End.
Was it good? Should I continue this bet thingy with their other newborns? Review please!
