Dogs in the Bed
There were dogs in Shino's bed. They were supposed to be on the floor, but every morning, without fail, Shino awoke to three furry forms at the foot of his bed. Oh well, it was a big bed. It had to be, what with the way the Inuzuka he shared it with spread out during the night. Shino was sometimes amazed that he managed to stay on the mattress at all.
Yet, in their ten years of marriage, Hana had never shoved him onto the floor. It was a close call sometimes, but he didn't mind. Missions frequently forced them to sleep apart, and they both hated it. Shino claimed that she took up too much room, but when she was gone, Shino admitted to himself that the large bed felt empty.
But that didn't mean he actually liked the dogs crowding the bed. Shino shifted, shoving the largest one off of his leg, before rolling over and trying to go back to sleep. The soft whine of the dog deprived of his favorite pillow knocked some sense into the bug user. Wait a minute! There were dogs in his bed! That could only mean that Hana was back from her two week mission. Shino nearly jumped out of bed, tripping over the blankets tangled around his legs. Kicking himself free, he lurched down the hallway, heading towards the bathroom. If Hana was home, she would be there. She always wanted to take a shower as soon as she got home.
The bathroom door opened just as Shino was grabbing for the doorknob. Hana emerged, wrapped in a towel, her dark hair still wet from the shower. It would not have been an exaggeration to say that Shino immediately scooped up his wife and sprinted back to the bedroom with her in his arms. The dogs were kicked out, the door was locked, and the two did not come out until noon.
