We've grown so much through the ages;

We've read thousands of pages

to come to where we are today.

It renders me speechless and that's all I can say

because I'm tearing up at the thoughts

of all the potions and spells and peculiar plots

that we've seen throughout these wonderful years.

Our tears start to fall as all our worst fears

are coming true: our journey's supposedly coming to an end.

No new books or new films, and we have to contend

with all the memories which we never want to lose.

Our lives have been changed; we aren't just making excuses

when we campaign with the HPA or listen to wizard rock.

We do it because we need to; we're still in shock

at how one woman could create this truly magical world,

and the complex young adults that grew from little boys and girls.

They've taught us important lessons about courage and strength,

proved that our paths depend on the choices we make.

That if you believe in something you should fight with all that you've got;

That what you've learned is far more important than what you've been taught;

That whether you're famous, dirt poor or smart as a whip,

what is most powerful is always love, courage and friendship;

That fame and fortune can't determine one's worth;

That family doesn't just mean those you've been related to since birth;

That while no one is perfect, when you make the right choice,

no matter how weak you began, you can find your voice;

They've shown us that it's crucial to be who you are,

even if who you are is what others see as bizarre;

That in order to win your battles you need to risk getting hurt;

That anything's possible with perseverance and hard work,

so if what you're trying isn't working then you've got to push harder;

That you can't always discern between the murderer and the martryr;

We've learned that it's possible for hard hearts to know love;

That sticking together is necessary when times get rough;

That no one is superior: not red, not green, not yellow nor blue;

That your most striking quality can be the trait which you choose;

That it doesn't matter whether you put all faith in your dreams,

or need to read a book or see with your eyes to believe,

you can stand and fight the good fight until the very end;

That a person's worth has nothing to do with the money they spend;

That both good people and bad come in all sizes and sorts;

That no matter what, we will always have Hogwarts;

She's made me believe I can become who I want to be;

She's given me hope in my wildest dreams;

Until the very end, J.K. Rowling will be my Queen.
