I'm so excited that Sanctuary's back! Yippeeeeeeeeee. Anywho, to the story. Just a little oneshot. Some spoilers for Kali pt3, Sleepers, and a really minor spoiler for The Five – the rest is just my wishful thinking as to what could happen next :) Enjoy!

"Nikola Tesla,"
The man in question opened his arms out as though expecting a particularly warm welcome.
"Helen, good to see you again."
She had to admit she reciprocated his sentiment. She had worried about his state of mind after everything that happened last time she saw him.
"What brings you here?"
He dropped his arms and suddenly looked slightly offended.
"I've come to be thanked. I believe I stopped a certain tidal wave."
She looked at him with disbelief.
"You created those earthquakes?"
"I'm offended you didn't consider me,"
She hesitated, letting her eyes roam over him for a moment. She no longer doubted he was capable. He could be, after all, brilliant. So she asked the only question she needed to.
"Why?"
"Call it an early Christmas present, if you will. I want to help you with the Sanctuary more."
"You weren't displaying any ability remotely capable of creating simultaneous earthquakes when you were last staying here,"
"As I said when I left, you were too much of a distraction. Your constant concern – whilst I admit I did enjoy the attention – was counter-productive to learning more about my new abnormality. Now I've had time to try it out for size, and I rather like it."
"And there's really nothing you wanted other than to help?"
"Nothing." He smirked knowingly.
"I know you won't take it to heart when I remind you you're hardly the Good Samaritan, Nikola. Now spill,"
"Okay, I will admit that saving the lives of thousands of people has made me a hero." He stepped a little closer into her personal space, his eyes twinkling with mischief. "And the hero always gets the girl, doesn't he?"
"Nikola?" Helen sighed with slight frustration.
"Give me a thank you kiss, go on, just one, you know you want to."
He pointed to his cheek with a shy little smile.
"How do I know you won't pull a Rome on me?"
"You don't. You'll just have to take a risk. You never know, you might enjoy it."
She couldn't help herself, he always seemed to make his arrogance come across as charm. She supposed a little kiss couldn't hurt matters, especially considering all he'd done.
She leant forwards, and as in Rome, he turned at the very last second so her mouth landed on his. But he was surprised when she didn't pull away, instead gripping his shirt and yanking him closer, kissing him passionately and not parting until several moments later.
When he gawped at her she just smiled.
"You did earn it."
"You're a hard woman to woo Helen Magnus, but a kiss like that inspires me to do so many more good things, so many more selfless acts of heroism."
"Selfless acts are in themselves defined by expecting nothing in return, having no ulterior motive."
"I didn't have an ulterior motive, I just realised I might get an added bonus of appreciation from you, and I cashed it in."
She couldn't help but smile at his reasoning. The man had an answer for everything.
"I guess I'd better prepare a room for you."
"Oh I can just bunk in with you," he flirted casually.
"Don't push it, Nikola."
He watched her leave, licking his lips and sighing with content. It wasn't so bad being mortal after all.
