Summary: RinSess. Sesshomaru is there to fill the needs in Rin's life even after he has sent her to live with a human family. It's short and more "sketchy" than "story" but it's exactly the way I imagined it. Review!

When Rin was seven she was killed by wolves and saved by a monster. By the time she was eight, the monster was long gone – if indeed he had ever been one – and she lived instead with a great and terrible lord she would never dream of leaving.

Her Sesshomaru-Sama.

But she knew, almost as soon as he knew it himself, that she would leave him. That she would live among humans again. That he was giving her away…sending her away.

One night, when she was eight and half asleep, he put her in the arms of a human mother and walked away.

But he had laid his hand upon her forehead in farewell and it was ok…because every little girl needs an angel.

When Rin was eleven, the bridge collapsed. She screamed and fell and tried to swim but already her head was clouded and her lungs were full of water.

But he was there.

Her angel.

When she was eleven and half asleep, he put her in the arms of a human father and walked away.

But he had dried her tears with his thumb, brushing against her cheek in a way that was familiar, and it was ok…because every young girl needs someone to care.

When Rin was fourteen she ran from a demon…a demon who wanted to hurt her and kill her and eat her and…and things Rin knew to fear without knowing what they were…

She fell.

But he was there.

She could only half remember the blood as he had killed for her, but she remembered his perfection with perfect clarity.

That night, when she was fourteen and half asleep, he entrusted her to a human brother and walked away.

But he had held her tight as he had carried her home, held as though he would take on the world for her, and it was ok…because every girl needs a protector.

When Rin was sixteen she fell ill. She burned and whimpered and dreamed things that shook her soul.

But he was there.

He came, every night for a month while her human family slept, to hold her hand, stroke her hair and whisper comfort in her ears.

That month, while she was sixteen and half asleep, he entrusted her once more to human life and walked away.

But he had made her smile, even when he could not, and it was ok…because every young woman needs a secret love.

When Rin was nineteen and tired, he was quiet and close. She smiled and he did not.

But he was happy.

He bade her rest and she did not complain.

That night, when she was nineteen and half awake he put their child in her arms and stood.

But he did not walk away; he lay beside her and pulled her and their son close and it was ok…because Rin needed her Sesshomaru.
