A/N: This is an idea of a college AU fic I had. If this gets enough views and/or reviews, I'll probably publish write it. The writer/narrator is supposed to be ambiguous. Guess if you can!

Please enjoy and tell me what you think. If you so wish, leave constructive criticism in the reviews. Or PM me if you think you'll be too scathing.

I know, I know. If you're reading this, then you want answers to what happened this past year. Short answer: hella stuff happened.

Alright, we got the Birth off to a good start. I'm sure you appreciated the humor, but now you actually want to know what happened. Well, honestly, it's going to be a long story. So if you started reading this on your way to work, I advise you to put this book down and wait until the weekend. There are lots of details and lots of people to keep straight, and you can't do that if you put this book down and then pick it back up again at your leisure. Honestly, take my advice. An adventure of epic proportions awaits you if you do.

Anyways, you want explanations for stuff, right? The attack on Dao He? The comet? The bending coming back? The Avatar returning? The coup? The Order of the White Lotus? The Order of the Red Lotus? The lionturtles? The lights in the skies? The eclipse and the alignment of worlds?

If you want answers, you have come to the right place. I have painstakingly compiled information from all over the world; honestly you wouldn't believe some of the people I've asked. This was a collaborative effort, consisting of about twenty percent my work, sixty percent other's work, and twenty percent blood, sweat, and tears.

I didn't want to write this, mind you. I preferred to let people speculate about what had happened. But the others were of the idea that since a new age was upon us, we should open it up with an explanation of what happened. I vehemently protested. "Let Sokka do it! Let Grandmaster Iroh do it! Let Master Piandao do it!" I yelled. Sokka would have been good at this sort of thing; he always liked historical books. But everyone agreed that I should, and I couldn't refuse them. And here is my humble account of what has happened over the past years. If you don't recognize the names above, then don't worry. I'll introduce them to you.

On my honor, I swear that the events in this book are true and no exaggeration or poetical license has been taken. And so, without further ado, I present to you: The Birth of the Era of Light.

It began, as most revolutionary things do, at college.
