Just A Mere Child

Chapter 1: Caius

"Aro you can't do this!" I yelled at the pale man sitting on his 'throne.' His crimson eyes stared at mine with such confusion.
"Caius dear calm down!" My wife chided.
"No Athenadora! I will not calm down! Aro is about to take a life away from a thirteen year old girl!" I yelled.
"Oh, did I mention that I will change her brother too? Such gifts they will have..." he mocked. I couldn't control myself; I jumped on him. Anthenadora, Marcus, and Felix all tried to restrain me, but I couldn't just stop.
"Damn you! Damn you to hell!" I screamed as Marcus held me back.
"We're all damned, Caius." he winked. He came up to me and touched my forehead.
"Protecting two kids, are you?"
"They won't like it. Aro you know how much I hated it; you know how much it hurts."
"Please. The pain will only last a couple of hours."
"You're taking their lives away."
"They will have the most powerful gifts!"
"Not while they are young. Aro, no."
"Fine, we shall wait. But if something happens, you will change Jane and Alec."
"Agreed."
"Good. Marcus, release him." Marcus nodded and let go of my arms. Athena kissed my cheek and smiled. "Good boy."

--

"Aro! Aro! The villagers-- burn-- Jane and Alec--" Didyme stuttered.
"What?!" Aro yelled. I looked up, feeling really sick, as if I could throw up. Oh crap.
"They convicted Alec and Jane of witchcraft. Burn at stake!! Not yet though."
"Uh-- Felix, Caius, Marcus come with me."

--

"Kill." Aro whispered to me, Felix, and Marcus. He looked at me. "Not you."
"Why? What shall I do?"
"Change them. Take them to the Volterra and change them. Hurry."
"What?"
"You said. Now go!"

The twins were tied to the stake. The girl-- Jane, I assume-- was crying. Alec was trying to calm her down.

"Jane its okay, try not to feel anything." he said.
"We didn't do anything though."

That's when I grabbed them. I didn't want them to see the killings-- not yet.
As I held them, Jane on my back and Alec on my shoulders, they were unusually quiet. Weird kids.

I approached the Volterra in ten minutes. Inside, my wife was waiting for us, along with Didyme and Suplicus. They looked at me, then the kids. Jane was crying. Athena approached her.
"Enjoy your tears while it lasts, child."
I looked at Didyme, who I knew could make her feel happy.
'No, Caius. Let her cry.'
I could not understand why she wanted the girl to suffer. Then again, I'm supposed to change her in a couple of hours.
"Why are we here?" She asked. She looked at me with frustration and confusion.
"You're here to be saved." Lie.
"Who are you?"
"Your protecter." Lie.
"Listen, I don't know whats going on, but me and my sister want to go."
"Do you know that you were almost killed by those foul mortals?" I hissed.
"Those foul mortals happened to be my family!" he yelled.
"Stupid child!" I jumped on Alec, sinking my teeth into his neck. The venom slowly pollutted his blood, but oh, the crimson rubies tasted so good.

I then heard the faint sounds pleading coming from, no surprise, Jane:
"Oh my God, please stop!"
