Sigh. "I'm bored."

"Draw a picture."

"Of what?"

"I don't know. Anything."

"I don't draw like you. You're better."

"Just draw whatever inspires you."

"Inspiring?"

"Yeah."

"When I get inspired, I write poetry."

"Fine. Write some poetry."

"But I'm not inspired!"

"Well, don't complain to me."

"What if you do something that will inspire me to write something?"

"Huh?"

"You know…do something."

"Anything?"

"Yeah."

"Okay."

A few minutes later…

"There. Is that good?"

"Oh my god!"

"What?"

"It's so…cool! I love that!"

Blush. "Well, you told me to do anything."

Smile. "And it turned out great. That drawing looks exactly like me. See? You draw better."

"But you write better."

"True."

"So does that inspire you?"

"Mmmmm…I don't know."

"Do you mean I did that for nothing?"

"No, 'course not! Now you have a drawing of my beautiful face." Bats eyelashes.

"True."

"You think I have a beautiful face?"

"Yeah. Lovely."

"Thanks…wait a sec!"

"What?"

"I got inspired!"

Grin. "Really? What are you inspired to do?"

"Write a poem."

"Yeah, I know. About what?"

"You."

Chuckle. "I'm flattered."

"Well, you did draw me."

"Okay. So, write a poem."

"I'll get right to it."

About ten minutes later…

"Finished!"

"Already?"

"Yup."

"Can I read it?"

"You want to read it?"

"Well, yeah. It's about me."

Bit lip. "Uh…okay…"

Silence.

"Oh my god."

"Do…do you like it?"

"It's…it's…so beautiful…"

Nervous laugh. "That's the first time I've ever drawn somebody from life. I know it isn't that good, but—"

"It's wonderful."

"Really?"

"God, I love this. This is better than mine is. It looks like…me…"

"Really?"

"I thought…you were going to write a poem."

"I changed my mind."

Sniffle. "Thank you. I love this. I'm going to hang it up in my room."

"Really?"

Hug.

"Really."

Silence.

Silence.

Then,

"You know what?"

"What?"

"It'll be kind of weird with you having a picture of yourself up in your room."

"Don't be silly. Here, sign it, so everyone knows who the artist is."

"Here."

"Thanks."

"No problem. None at all."
