The rain was pouring out on her windows as the thunder boomed and the lightning strike

The rain was pouring out on her windows as the thunder boomed and the lightning strike. She woke up startled and scared. Taking her ragged doll with her, she carefully tip-toed to her mommy's room. As she opened the door she could see her mommy sleeping under the covers. The little girl carefully walked in her mommy's bed as she slipped past her arms and laid her head in her chest.

"Mmm, Chris?" The young mother awoke surprised to see her 3 year-old daughter in her arms.

"Hi, Mommy." Chris said giving her a loop-sided grin.

"What are you doing here?" Her mother asked.

"I woke up and got scared because of the rain." She reasoned out.

"Ohh, well, there's no need to be scared, now dear." The young woman smiled and kissed her head.

Chris smiled and laid her head again in her chest. While Sam, smiled and carresed her child's head. She was just like her daddy. She thought.

"Mommy?"

"Yeah?"

"Yesterday at school, some of the kids in my class made fun of me." Chris said.

"Why?"

"Because the teacher was talking about our daddy's."

Sam's eyes saddened at that thought.

"And what did your classmates say?"

"That I'm just an orphan and I don't have a daddy." Chris cried, remembering the events.

"Oh, sweetie that's not true." Sam said, wiping her daughters tears away.

"Why not? I don't have a daddy."

"Yes, you do." Sam said.

"Really?" Chris smiled again and her blue eyes shined.

"Uh-huh." Sam said, smiling after seeing her daughter's face lit up at the mention of her daddy.

"What did he looked like mommy? Did he work in an office? Like my classmates daddies did?" Chris asked.

"Oh, well, your daddy was one of the most handsome persons in the world. He had blue eyes and a black hair like you do."

"Wow." Chris said.

"Plus, he's a superhero too." Sam said.

"A superhero? Like the ones I see on tv?" Chris said.

"Of course but he fights ghosts and he wears a black and white jumpsuit." Sam smiled remembering the times they fought ghosts together.

"Wow. I have the coolest daddy in the world!" Chris smiled.

"You sure do." Sam smiled also.

"So when do I meet him?" Chris asked.

Sam's smiled disappeared and sighed sadly. 'If only he knew.' She thought.

"Mommy?"

"Hmm?"

"When do I meet daddy again?"

"Sometime, he's just busy these days."

"Fighting ghosts?" Chris asked

"Yeah." Sam smiled.

"Oh cool!" Chris said.

"Yeah but right now, you need to sleep." Sam frowned.

"Aww" Chris pouted.

"You've got a day ahead of you tomorrow." Sam smiled.

"Yeah! We're going to the zoo!" Chris smiled, then yawned.

"Goodnight mommy." Chris said, hugging her mommy close.

"Goodnight Christina." Sam smiled sadly as Chris slept away.

'If only he knew you' Sam thought then finally closing her eyes.
