Soul and Maka were walking the halls of The Academy because they had some time to kill before class started.

"So what should we do for dinner tonight, Soul?" Maka asked.

"I don't care what you cook." Soul said with no emotion, as usual.

"Well I'm tired of the same routine every day, Soul. We go home, you relax, I cook us dinner. Can't we switch it up for once?"

"No way. If I cooked dinner for you it would give you the wrong ideas."

"What are you talking about? I cook you dinner every night and you think nothing of it."

"Well that's different. Anyway I'm way too cool to be cooking dinner."

"So you're saying if you cooked dinner for once I'd think you weren't cool?"

"Well not only that but you might start thinking I have feelings for you or something. I'd never fall for a flat chested girl like you." He saw by the way she turned away from him that he had offended her with that big mouth of his. "But if it makes you feel better...we can go out for dinner tonight. We'll invite Tsubaki, Blackstar, and even Blair if you want. It'll be fun, I promise."

She looked back at him wiping mist from her eyes hoping Soul hadn't seen her tears forming.

"That does sound like fun." She smiled at him.

Later that night, Soul, Maka, Tsubaki, Blackstar, and Blair walked into one of their favorite restaurants to go to as a group, The Witches Pumpkin, and all sat at their usual table. As they were waiting for their food, a couple of guys walked passed them and spotted Maka sitting next to Soul.

"Hey sweetheart," One of them said to Maka. "You should dump that loser and come with us. I'm sure he's a pretty boring date."

"Oh, he's not my date." Maka said to them without making eye contact.

"All the better reason to come with us then!"

"No...I'm going to stay." She replied, still not looking in their direction.

"Fine. No loser is going to want to be with a flat chested girl like you anyway." They said to her and had almost made it out the door before Soul had thrown them both to the ground and beaten them to a pulp.

"Don't you say anything negative about Maka! She's the greatest meister around and the most beautiful girl here." He then walked back to the table and sat down casually next to Maka as if nothing had happened.

"I thought you didn't have feelings for me." She said to him.

"I don't," Soul blushed. "I just don't like to see you cry."
