A/N: Where's Brock? Well... uh... He found a Nurse Joy that actually liked him, so he decided to stay with her. (Yeah, that's it. (Phew.) Hey!! Don't read this...) Oh, and ages - Ash and Misty are both 15.
As the sun rose over the far off, green mountains, the flower draped
floor of the meadow was illuminated with color and radiance. Ash
and Misty were on their way to Asawa City for a big Pokemon tournament
and had spent the night in the meadow. Misty was the first to wake
up.
"Sure is beautiful." She sat staring
into the sky, wondering what could create something so beautiful as the
planet they lived on. With a loud sigh, she leaned back to lay down
- and layed down on Pikachu.
"CHUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!" Ash
awoke with a start, electricity surging through his body.
"Yeaaaa-aaaahhhh!! Pikaaaaachhhhuuuuu!"
The small mouse Pokemon realized he was out of danger, and promptly stopped
his attack. Ash grunted.
"Erm - Morning Mist. What's up with
Pikachu."
"Uh... I don't know," she lied "but I sure
am hungry."
"Yeah, me too." Ash inspected his
pack. There was enough food for one more meal. They sat down
to a breakfast of juice, chips, various fruits, and ketchup for Pikachu.
At the end of their 'breakfast', there was one cookie left.
"I'll battle ya for it," Ash challenged
playfully. Misty smiled cheerfully.
"You're on!" They selected a long
patch of dirt for their makeshift battle ground. Ash called out Chikorita,
and Misty decided to use Starmie.
"Chikorita, Razor Leaf!"
"Dodge it Starmie! Good! Water
Gun!"
"Look out for that Water Gun, Chikorita!
Block it with Vine Whip." Ash's plan worked, the Vine Whip cut through
the water like forest fire in dry season, and dealt Starmie a powerful
blow. Starmie flew backwards, but it wasn't ready to give up yet.
"Hang in there, Starmie - Use Tackle now!"
"On my count, Chikorita! Ready, set
- Jump!" Chikorita sailed up into the sky, but Ash had called too
early. Starmie cut through the air in a flying tackle, skillyfully
bashing Chikorita.
"Are you okay Chikorita?"
"Chikka!"
"Good then, let's finish this! Razor
Leaf!" Misty hadn't expected Chikorita to continue fighting after the powerful
tackle, and therefore hadn't issued a command to Starmie. Razor Leaf
hit with deadly precision, earning Ash and Chikorita another victory.
"Nice match," Misty called.
"Yeah, you're a really good opponent,"
Ash replied. He walked over to obtain his prize, the cookie.
Misty held it over his head in a playfull keepaway attempt. She dashed
off toward the edge of the forest with Ash in hot pursuit. They both
tripped over a log concealed in the ground, and hit the mossy forest floor
hard. Still laughing, Ash lunged at Misty to get the cookie, but
she scrambled out of the way just in time so that Ash could not reach the
cookie. He istead caught her around the hips. Ash tickled her
back, knowing that she was ticklish. With a playful scream, she dropped
the cookie to the forest floor. Pikachu came scampering up to them,
and Ash shot up with a sheepish grin on his face.
"Pikka! Chu chu, pika."
"Er - C'mon Misty, we better get going,"
Ash said, offering his hand to help her get up. Pikachu scampered
off ahead of them, eager to get on the road - and get fresh new ketchup.
"Good thing Brock isn't here," said Misty,
glancing at the imprint of the two bodies in the moss "I can see it now
- Ash and Misty, sitting in a tree..."
"Yeah, well it was just playful fun.
Besides, we are friends."
They began their way to their next destination.
So, finally an author who doesn't use cliffhangers!
(yet, snicker) Are we all happy?
To be continued!
