Black Clouds of Twilight
Don't the black clouds of twilight look so lovely today?
Oh they were so very lovely. I loved them from the depths of my heart. They gave me a sense of comfort in a world I knew nothing about. To me, the world of light looked so much nicer blanketed under black clouds of twilight. Those clouds caressed the world. They kept it safe. Oh yes, those clouds did look so lovely. Yet, it seemed that only a Twili could understand that beauty.
He certainly didn't enjoy the Twilight. He growled deep in his throat all the time and his fighting seemed more aggressive when he was trapped by Twilight. Even if he was a blue-eyed beast, supposedly the savoir of the world, he saw naught but horror in the Twilight. He glared at the clouds and wished for light; he could not hide it from me.
But I was so accustomed to this realm. It had been my home for so very long. Those clouds had kept me safe and given me comfort. The repulsive darkness and oppressive light mingled together in this world in a sense of balance. Where they fought for supremacy in the other two realms, in mine, they existed as an intertwined being. All the Twili loved the Twilight. He would love it too, one day.
Little by little, however, he dispelled the Twilight and I was forced to accept that he would never love the Twilight as I did. A creature of the Light, through and through. It made me angry that he did not see the beauty of my world. It made me angry that he insisted on saving his own world instead of letting them live in the peace of Twilight. It made me angry that he saw the Twilight as a threat. I told him so one day.
Link smiled at me and said "Midna, do you see the beauty of this world? Don't the trees catch the light of sun so beautifully today? Do you see the peace of this plain, and the contentment of the people in Castle Town? The Twilight is a threat to us; it threatens that all the people of Hyrule will live a lie in eternal Twilight."
He said no more after that and I was forced to reconsider my opinions. The sun was too bright, but the trees did seem to glow and turn their leaves toward it. Plants seemed to bask in the light as though it was a luxury they didn't always have. Even he seemed to love the having the light shine down on him; he wore a contented smile whenever the sun shone, and it was marred only when a monster appeared to distract him.
Don't the black clouds of twilight look so lovely today?
Oh aye, they do.
But they are exclusively for the Twilight Realm.
