"Because you were the first. The first face that this face saw. You seared onto my hearts, Amelia Pond. Always will be."

Another fight. Another battle. Another companion lost in time.

And now the Doctor is all alone. Again.

He said he'd never tell any of them goodbye. That they would leave on their own accord and that there was nothign he could do about it.

Except for Amy.

Because Amy had been different. Amy had been Amelia. Amelia Pond, the girl who waited and had others wait for her. The girl who wouldn't see anyone hurt and who would always coming running back for her Raggedy Man.

But not this time.

"Come along Pond, please."

Amy had her new man. Her old man. Her forever man.

Amy had her Rory. And Amy no longer needed her Doctor.

But her Doctor needed his Amy.

Because this wasn't like Donna, or Martha, or Sarah Jane, or even Rose.

Amelia Pond had chosen her death in front of him, she had been the first companion to leave him on her own accord, out of love for somebody else; a love even stronger than her love for the doctor.

Amelia Pond had been fantastic.

And now the Doctor is waiting alone, in his blue TARDIS, wallowing in a sorrow that not even the best of adventures could fix.

He'll have another companion soon. Always does. And now more than even due to Amy's last letter.

"Don't be alone, Doctor"

But it won't be the same. He won't have his Rory the Roman and his Pond. They are dead now. Truly and painfully dead. And he never got to say goodbye.

And he won't even have his River Song. His only Pond left.

"The TARDIS only needs one psychopath, don't ya think"

For she new he wouldn't be the same with her. She was their daughter.

So for now the Doctor is yet again traveling alone, waiting in his time machine full of lost hope and future dreams.

But one day, maybe he'll meet a little girl.

With fiery red hair and an attitude to match.

And she'll say.

"Doctor, who?"
