It wasn't fair. Nothing about this was fair. His best friend, his only love, was ripped away from his arms. He said they'd always be together. Why? Why did he betray him like this? "Aaron." Those two syllables that escaped his lips caused him to collapse in shaky sobs. "Aaron...why did you leave me? Why did you do this to me?" He clutched the ground, ripping out dirt and tossing it aside.

He'd loved Aaron. So much, with all the power he could muster. He thought that Aaron was betraying his country, but more importantly, him. But he was horribly wrong.

When he found Ash, he'd resented him. He had absolutely every right. He looked like Aaron. So much like Aaron. The first night, he'd clawed out some of his fur, angry tears streaming down his face. He was cursing the gods for condemning him in such a way. But he started to like Ash. He hated himself for it. But he knew that he could never replace Aaron.

He remembered everything about him. The first time they met, their friendship. The first time they'd kissed. A whole wave went through him, and he knew that he loved Aaron with all his heart. He was so happy, so so happy, that the object of his affections felt the same. But the war...Oh bloody gods, the war. He'd searched through all the fire and rubble, looking for Aaron. Only to reunite with him. And what he found....he shook the image from his head. He'd said he'd never leave him. Why did he lie?
