Shattered

Summary: All it takes is an instant for your entire life to change. Lisa POV.

Life can change in a brief moment; a blink of a sun-filled eye.

She uses a hand to shade her sensitive eyes from the bright sunlight as she enters the parking lot. Her other hand grips the keys as she searched for her car in massive sea of parked automobiles baking in the summer sun.

A sharp pain in her throat; a tight grip on her hair. A gruff voice in her ear tells her to hold still. Her body trembles despite the sweltering heat.

The rough pavement scrapes her delicate skin as she lies on the ground. She can barely breathe; weight on her chest crushes the air from her lungs. She attempts one last desperate plea, but the words never leave her lips.

A sharp blade slices her soft flesh and she gasps in pain. Her eyes flare wide at the sight of her own blood.

Helpless; desperate to be free. Her heart is nothing more than a lump in her throat as she shuts her eyes against the violation. Her body shakes and tenses.

She hears nothing; sees nothing. All she wants for this to end. She focus on her lack of oxygen; praying for the end. Either she wants her breathing to cease entirely and carry her off into the welcoming darkness or she wants the air to return her to the bright light.

Finally, it's over.

Broken; she lies on the ground with her blood spilling onto the dirty pavement. Broken; she allows tears to fill her eyes. Broken; she lies frozen on the ground.

Unsure and insecure… she wishes she could understand. Hopeless, helpless, hurt.

She is shattered—her safe, secure world vanished in an instant.

There is no way to recover.

Author's Notes:

Just a quick little one-shot similar to Unwanted. The idea came to me in a nightmare and I can totally sympathize with what's going on. Only a few people who read this will actually understand that, but that's okay. Enjoy and thanks for reading/reviewing!
