Hazel wasn't sure how fast influenza spread, but she was pretty sure that gossip at Camp Jupiter spread faster. The morning after the Feast of Fortuna, it seemed that just about everyone knew about her and Frank.
As in, together.
Hazel had been woken up by the kids in the Fifth singing: "Hazel and Frank sitting in a tree...". They only stopped after Gwen made a comment about how she was sure that the First Cohort's 10 year-olds were much more mature. Then they got quiet real quick.
Frank wasn't awake yet and neither was Percy, so Hazel made her way to New Rome alone.
"Hazel."
Hazel turned to see her brother behind her. She waited while he caught up. Then she waited some more while Nico caught his breath. For such a skinny boy, he sure got tired easily.
Nico gave Hazel an update on the Underworld. Monsters were returning to Tartarus, but the Doors of Death were still wide open.
"Nice job with your quest." Nico said as they neared a bakery.
Hazel blushed. It wasn't everyday that Nico complimented her. It wasn't everyday that anyone complimented her.
Except for Frank, she realized. He complimented her everyday. And now that they were- what did Gwen call it?- dating, he complimented her even more.
So maybe Hazel could deal with this rumour thing, for a compliment.
