I've had this idea for a while. Ever since I recently watched Attack of the Clones, I've been wondering about Yoda's strange way of speaking, and what that might cause.
Basically, clones getting very confused. Finally, I made it into this short oneshot.
Clone: NorthernMage doesn't own Star Wars.
The Grand Army of the Republic was one of the greatest armies in the galaxy. Millions of clones, created specifically to fight the war against the Separatists.
They were trained for years, and learnt all they would need. Clones underwent many tests to make sure they were the perfect soldier.
If they didn't pass, they didn't serve the Republic. Simple as that. Only the best made it to the front lines.
However, there was no training program to teach a certain group of clones exactly how to understand their Jedi General.
'Around the survivors a perimeter create!' Yoda called. The new clone army had been assigned to Jedi, and a fair few had gone to Geonosis to rescue Anakin, Obi-Wan and Padme.
Blaster lasers shot through the air, narrowly missing the Republic gunship they were in. This was exactly when their training would kick in, managing the situation quickly and effectively, with minimum casualties.
Except it didn't.
Yoda's clones looked at each other in complete and utter confusion.
'Do you understand what he just said?'
'I'm not really sure.'
'What is this guy?'
'We were never shown his kind back on Kamino.'
Yoda sighed with frustration. 'Around the survivors, a perimeter, create!' One clone gasped.
'He's telling us to create a perimeter around the survivors!'
Stunned silence.
'You are a genius.' The clones stared at the soldier who had figured it out.
Yoda groaned mentally.
They were in a battle which could end the war before it even started, and as if the pressure wasn't enough, there was now a language barrier.
Great. Just great.
'Unneeded, this language barrier is!'
'I'm sorry sir, what did you say?'
