"When I told Dad I was scared of the thing in my closet, he gave me a .45." I know he did. How could I forget that day?

A/N: just a drabble that popped in my mind. Sam's quote is from the Pilot. English isn't my first language so I'm sorry for any mistake. Hopefully it's not too bad. R&R please!

Dean's POV

Sam: "When I told Dad I was scared of the thing in my closet, he gave me a 45."

I know he did. I fucking well know it. How could I forget that day? I had tried to keep you safe. I had tried to keep you innocent. I wanted you to be a child as long as possible. But I knew that day would come and it did. I still remember the look in your eyes, when you told me you were scared. I used to handle it but that night there was no way for me to calm you down. It's my fault, 'cause I couldn't reassure you and you went to dad. You woke him up and told him you couldn't sleep 'cause there was something in your closet. Dad put the salt in front of the closet and then he gave you a gun. You stared at him for a moment, unable to speak. Then looking at the gun, still bewildered, you said "I can't shoot". Dad smiled and he caressed your cheek reassuringly, then he said "I'll teach you tomorrow". And I knew that was the end of your childhood.
