Caroline found herself conflicted and well, confused. Something that had been happening a lot lately.
She remembered when things had been simpler. When she was human, when she wasn't really aware of the supernatural shit storm that surrounded Mystic Falls.
But, of course Damon (the vampire gigalo) can be blamed for introducing her to the world of Vampire, Werewolves, Originals and Hybrids.
Now three years later sitting in a bar somewhere is Tokyo, trying to figure out foreign liquor, she finds herself confused.
The same kind of confused he felt when Tyler came up to her door and kissed her the same day perfect boyfriend Matt had.
Men!
Only this time Matt and Tyler were the furthest people on her mind.
Her thoughts are solely focused on the two of them.
He was strong and worldly and had promised her the show her things she had only dreamed of.
His brother, on the other hand, was charming and mysterious and full of wisdom.
Each had stories from the past. Each one's stories varying so greatly from the other.
He would spends days showing her the beauty the world had to offer. The Museums, the sights, the art.
His brother would share his love of literature, fine tea and exquisitely exotic foods.
She was snapped out of her little dream land when a bartender came up and placed a glass of some colourful looking liquid in front of her,
"ArigatÅ," she said with a smile. It was one of the few words she had picked up on her stay.
As she slowly sipped her drink she thought back to what awaited her at the hotel.
She had finally taken Nik (that's what she called him nowadays) up on his offer to see the world. She thought it would have just been the two of them, but no. Elijah asked if he could tag along for a while - something about making up lost time with his brother.
And that is why she finds herself in this mess. I mean wasn't one brother enough. All her life everyone had chosen Elena and now these two men had suddenly decided to become hopelessly devoted to her.
The thing was, when Nik found out about Elijah's sudden interest she expected to see him dagger his brother and place him in that creepy ass coffin. Instead he surprised her with a kiss on the cheek and him softly whispering,
"A little competition will help keep me on my toes."
After she had finished her drink and fished out some yens from her bag she slowly made her way to the exit. As she walked out onto the street she caught sight of Elijah leaning against the wall on the opposite side of the road. He looked so dapper as he donned his signature "suit and tie look"
In a blink of the eye he was standing next to her offering her his arm,
"since my brother kept you all to himself yesterday, I was wondering of you would spend tonight with me. I hear the view from the Red Tower is beautiful at night"
All Caroline could do was smile and nod, while he pulled her in the direction of the tower.
Maybe conflicted and confused was okay. She found it hard NOT to enjoy the attention she was receiving. She often wondered if she could ever have a normal relationship with one of them.
Well that was a thought to ponder over another drink on another night.
For now she was content walking the streets of Tokyo with ONE of her boys.
