A/N: Songfic for Whiskey Lullaby by Allison Kraus and Brad Paisley.

She loved him, she really did. Her heart broke at the fact that she had to let him go. But they weren't meant to be together. Everyone said it. She believed them all. She let their words get to her head. But he loved her. He didn't want to go, he didn't want to give up on the potential they had together.

She put him out like the burnin' end of a midnight cigarette
She broke his heart he spent his whole life tryin' to forget
We watched him drink his pain away a little at a time
But he never could get drunk enough to get her off his mind
Until the night

He spent so much time alone at home, wishing she was there with him. He drank himself to sleep every night. He loved her, he missed her. He didn't want to ever give up on her, but he couldn't change her mind. He knew in his heart they were meant to be together, but he couldn't fight anymore.

He put that bottle to his head and pulled the trigger
And finally drank away her memory
Life is short but this time it was bigger
Than the strength he had to get up off his knees
We found him with his face down in the pillow
With a note that said I'll love her till I die
And when we buried him beneath the willow
The angels sang a whiskey lullaby

She cried when she heard the news, she died a little inside. Why had she let everyone take him away? Why had she listened to people who knew nothing about everything? He was her life, and now he's gone forever. What had she done?

The rumors flew but nobody know how much she blamed herself
For years and years she tried to hide the whiskey on her breath
She finally drank her pain away a little at a time
But she never could get drunk enough to get him off her mind
Until the night

She spent every night bottled up at home alone. The phone rang, but she never answered. She cried all night, she drank all night, until she fell asleep. Whiskey was her shelter that no one could take away.

She put that bottle to her head and pulled the trigger
And finally drank away his memory
Life is short but this time it was bigger
Than the strength she had to get up off her knees
We found her with her face down in the pillow
Clinging to his picture for dear life
We laid her next to him beneath the willow
While the angels sang a whiskey lullaby

Now they are reunited under ground. Buried together for eternity. This wasn't what they wanted, but they were together.

The Tomb Stone read:

Kyo Sohma and Tohru Honda

Destined to be together

Unwillingly torn apart
