"Sophie," Nate said grabbing her arm before she could walk the stairs into the plane that would eventually take her far far away from here...away from him.

"What do you want Nate?" She was tired, tired of this of them. The moments that seem like moments but probably mean nothing. The gazes they share, the longings they both have. The dreams o her with a round belly and him by her side, the dreams that won't stop coming into her mind. Day or night. She was tired of this tango, one step forward two steps back. The questions, would they could they be something? What if it ruined what they were? What were they? Friends? Enemies? It was all so confusing and it litereally gave her a headache.

"Where are you going?" He whispered.

She sighed, "Why do you care?" Her body was sending herself mixed signals, her heart wanted him to care. Her heart wanted him to kiss her right here and say he couldn't bare to part from her. Her brain was telling her she should get away quick and fast before she fell so hard she got hurt. She was tired of hurting, and she honestly didn't believe she could take anymore pain. Seeing him come in drunk was killing her and the fact every time she turned around she saw him with a drink in hand wasn't helping the need she had that she had to fix him. Heal him. "What are we Nate?" She asked, the question slipping out.

"We're us. Sophie and Nate. Enemies brought together by a common want. But theres something here. Something with us.."He trailed off.

"I can't keep doing this dance Nate. Not when i feel like i'm being stabbed every time i see you with a drink or drunk. I can't do us if you can't stop drinking."

"Your giving me an ultimatium." He said stating-the-facts.

"I guess so. Me or the alcohol, Nate." She said, she turned around and walked up the stairs knowing he would choose the alcohol but knowing she couldn't hear him when he did. She couldn't bare to hear him yell at her or say he wanted the alcohol. Making her seem stupid for wanting him even though he didn't choose her.

"You." He said, suddenly.

She stopped, foot hovering in the air. She put it down and turned around, "What?"

"I choose you, Sophie." He said.

This felt wrong, she thought. It should feel exciting and she should feel happy. But she didn't, and she didn't know why. But then she knew why, he never kept his promises and this was a promise. She couldn't be happy unless he proved it, and proved he wanted her. She knew it was unfair to make him prove himself, something so very high school-ish. But she needed to know, that he infact did need her more than the alcohol. "Prove it."

"How?"

She sighed and leaned her head against the plane. She was at the top step, all she needed to do was enter it. But she stayed leaning aginst the plane. "Stop drinking. I'll be watching, if you really stop drinking we can explore this whatever it is. But if you can't stop drinking," She shrugged, "I'll disappear."

"Okay." He said, slowly walking backwards. This was confusing why did she need to be so confusing. He said what he knew she wanted to hear but also what he needed to say. He wanted to explore this...them. He wanted to move out of this rut he had been in the past year, the pain, the agony he needed it to go away and he knew she was the answer. She had always been the answer.

"Goodbye Nate." She said, turning her head and walking into the plane.

He watched the pilot fold the steps into the plane then slowly drive out of the warehouse and out onto the ramp. He watched the white plane slowly gain speed as it raced down the runway and finally take off. But a question remained, how was she going to watch if she was far away?
