A man stood on top of the highest building in York New, his expression betraying nothing. His long, black hair flew back in the breeze, and he glared to his left. Standing there was a man with red hair and tattoos on his cheeks. He was smirking at the other man as if he knew an important secret.

"You called Illumi~" The red haired man said, walking closer to the black-haired man until they were almost touching. He poked Illumi's shoulder, trying to get his attention. "Hey Illumi~ Illumi are you listening to me? Illumi~" Illumi's eyebrows creased; the only sign of his annoyance towards the man bothering him.

"I can hear you quite well Hisoka, I was just thinking." He ran a hand through his perfectly straight hair and dropped his arm without a noise. "I have a favor for you." His dark pupils peered into Hisoka's, silently asking if he were up to the task.

"Oh~" Hisoka leaned back and grinned. "It's not very often you ask me for favors." Hisoka's grin took a more sinister look. "Do you need me to kill anyone, or is it something more interesting~"

Illumi sighed. He had always hated conversing with Hisoka. It put a weird feeling in his stomach. "I am taking the hunter's exam this year. I want you to go and distract my brother." He pulled out a picture of a young boy with bright blue eyes and silver hair to show to Hisoka. "Make sure he doesn't suspect me."

Hisoka's hand moved to cover his mouth and he looked to the side. "Understood...but I'm quite shy, I don't know if I'll be able to go near them~" Illumi looked at Hisoka with a deadpan expression. Hisoka was in no way shy, and he had never hesitated before to get something he wanted.

"It's a job. You'll do what is needed." Illumi turned his head up to look at the millions of stars in the sky. As beautiful as it would be to most people, he simply saw it as lights in the air. It wasn't anything special. Hisoka threw a box at Illumi.

"Here~ It's so you can keep in contact, don't be a stranger~" Hisoka winked and jumped off the building, disappearing from Illumi's view. As he left, Illumi let out a large sigh.

His brother was so troublesome. Killua was disobedient and he always ignored Illumi's advice. He had so much potential to be the best assassin the world had seen, but he rejected all of it to try and gain independence. It was a useless endeavor. Sometimes, Illumi wished he was one of the younger ones. It would be easier to not have to be in charge of so many siblings. It was burdensome.

As Illumi recognized his thoughts, he took out a needle and stabbed himself in the arm, creating a pinprick of blood. It wouldn't do well for him to let those ideas go unpunished. That was what led to such disobedience, and that in turn would eventually lead to punishment. As the oldest, he had to set an example. He had to be the perfect one.

Illumi wiped off the small amount of blood and jumped from building to building. There was work to do, and troublesome brothers to receive. Illumi shook his head and headed off to the Hunter exam, ready for the annoyance he was about to face in the wake of Killua's decisions.

At the Hunter Exam

Killua exited the small elevator and entered into a large room. It didn't seem like many people were there, but maybe he was just early. He took a look around, quickly figuring out which people would be a pain to fight. As strong as he was, Killua really didn't want to spend time fighting people. It was just a waste. He only found two people that he might have issues with. One had a bunch of pins stuck in his entire body and was shuddering creepily, the other was dressed as a perverted clown with weird makeup. He made a mental note to avoid those to if possible.

A hand poked Killua in the shoulder and he lazily turned around. A fat man stood there, holding out his hand in greetings. "Sup, I'm Tonpa. This is my 35th time taking the exam. What's your name?" Killua sighed inwardly. This guy was obviously trying to trick him and it was so obvious. The man with pins narrowed his eyes as he watched their encounter.

"I'm Killua," He smiled up at the older man, but it didn't seem to meet his eyes. "I'm sure you can tell but this is my first time taking the exam." The fat man smiled and pulled a can of orange juice out of his bag. Killua's eyes narrowed, but he kept the smile in place. The juice was obviously poisoned, but Killua's mood brightened when he made a plan to scare the guy.

"Here," Tonpa offered the juice. "To our new friendship." Killua smirked, taking the juice and opening it.

"Yeah, to our friendship." Without expression, he chugged the entire thing. It tasted disgusting, but he forced it down. By the time he was done, Tonpa had already moved on to a new group of three who had just entered. One was wearing all green, the other a suit, and the last one was wearing some kind of traditional garb. Though he knew he would win in a fight, something about the traditional one made Killua's skin crawl. There was something off about that guy.

When Tonpa offered, the kid in green immediately started to drink it, the guy in the suit quickly following. Killua almost walked over there to stop them, but the green kid started to spit it out.

"Tonpa-san," The green haired kid spoke. "I think the juice is expired, it tastes funny." The guy in the suit spit out his drink and muttered something about that being close. The traditional one just dumped it out and didn't even bother trying it. Killua guessed that he was also the smartest person in the group.

"H-huh that's strange" Tonpa said as he rubbed the back of his head in annoyance. He was the type of person who enjoyed crushing newcomers and ruining their chances. Tonpa got on his knees and began apologizing; he quickly left the group. Killua figured that he would implement the last part of his plan. He quickly found Tonpa and waved.

"Hey Tonpa-san," Killua yelled as he approached the man. "Can I get another one of those juices. I'm really thirsty." He held back a laugh as Tonpa began to panic over his health. Regardless, he handed over another can which Killua chugged again.

When Killua saw Tonpa's worried expression, he smirked. "Don't worry, poisons don't work on me." He dropped the can and walked away, pleased with his entertainment for the moment.
