A short one shot that takes place during the last episode. Its my take on what I think should have happened. (Okay so I didn't watch the entire last season so if I have a few facts wrong, please forgive me)

Calleigh sat across the table from the two social workers.
"I just have a few follow up questions, clarification" said the male interviewer "you're not married" it was more of a statement than a question.
"Uh, no" Calleigh said "not yet anyway"
"is there a change in your circumstance that needs to be noted?"
Calleigh couldn't help but smile "I guess, um, my partner asked me to marry him"
"But this is a solo adoption request?"
"Yes sir" Calleigh said "It's a long story, you'll find his details in your file though"
The social worker scanned through the file for her partners details and nodded.
The interviewer cleared his throat "your line of work, crime scene investigator?"
"That's correct"
"A nine to five job for the most part?" the other social worker asked.
"I work the day shift now, yes"

"Is that primarily laboratory work?"
"My job is to conduct the scientific analysis of evidence; however I am also a sworn office of the Miami Dade Police Department. But, I have already applied to transfer to the lab full time"

Delko had to do something. He knew what those children meant to Calleigh, he couldn't see her not get them. He did the only thing he could for his friend and one of the kindest people he knew.

"Being there for each other over all those years, that makes us a family" and he was right "I'd lay down my life for Calleigh and I know she'd do the same for me". In fact he'd risk his life for anyone on that team and he was in no doubt they would all do the same for him.

H watched his team from afar, it was good to see them all laugh especially after the last few days. He strolled up to the table, shades in hand.

"Ah ha, told you he would make it, someone owes be fife bucks" Delko said.

"Horatio, can I get you something to drink?"

"Only if Mr Wolfe buys" H said causing everyone to laugh. He'd had a tough few days too, not only worrying about his team but his life. Anytime he made plans for his future something had gone wrong, but this time would be different, it had to be different. That didn't stop him worrying though.

"There you go H" Ryan said placing a drink in front of his boss, at that moment H's phone buzzed with a message. He read the message with a smile on his face. He took a large sip of his drink before saying "I'm afraid, ladies and gentleman I have to go"
"Oh come on H, you just got here" Ryan protested

"Mr Wolfe, some advice" H said putting his shades on "never leave a lady waiting. Not too long anyway" and with that he turned on his heel and left.

Intrigued by what that meant, the eyes of the entire table watched as H left the bar and climbed into the passenger side of a large black SUV waiting at the curb.

"H always drives" said Natalia, looking at her colleagues.

"He must really trust them" Tripp added.

Through the open passenger window everyone saw Horatio Caine lean over and kiss a very beautiful blonde woman in the drivers seat.

"Is that? It can't be? Can it?" Tripp said

As the car pulled away Delko spots Austin waving at him from the back seat. H looked very happy and calm in the front seat.

"That ladies and gentleman was Calleigh Ducain" Delko exclaimed.

Trip smiled and raised his glass "about bloody time"
